1 will always be superior to me. Hell, I even put 2 and 4 above 3. Something about it's uneveness never sat well me as well as it has with 4. And 4 is so goddamn rewatchable, it ranks among my most rewatchable movies ever (we're talking in Bloodsport territory of rewatchability, lol). I've always loved 2; it's dark, sinister, that party scene is amazing with one of my favorite Freddy quotes (hell, take your pick: "Help yourself, Fucker!" or "You're all my children now"), with the best Freddy make-up. If Christopher Young utilized Charles Bernsteins theme in the score, 2 would be my favorite score of the series.
That said, nightmares 1-4 is a very solid watch for me.
