Good for him, he is already a better professional baseball player than he ever was a professional football player.

Winning record as a starting QB in the NFL. Led team to playoffs and won a playoff game in his only season as starter. Named one of the NFLs top 100 players by his peers.Headhunter wrote:Good for him, he is already a better professional baseball player than he ever was a professional football player.
Pretty good at both.

He was one of the worst starting QBs in NFL history by almost every conceivable measure. Absolutely atrocious. Also, lmao @ the NFL's top 100 list. Players put him on the list as a joke, as if the list wasn't already a joke not worth citing at all (also, players think the process of forming the list is a complete sham).Foo wrote:Winning record as a starting QB in the NFL. Coaches used to tell Chris Harris and other Broncos defensive backs to take it easy on Tebow in practice so he wouldn't lose his confidence. They were picking him so much that the offense wasn't able to get anything done in practice. So the defensive coaches asked their players to throw scrimmages in the offense's favor so Tebow wouldn't be ruined. Tebow should be thankful the media hype ever gave him a chance to step onto an NFL field, because he had the skillset of a non-priority undrafted free agent coming out of school. He got an opportunity he never deserved and he blew it.

Re: Why you don't hear about Tim Tebow lately...
It is a pretty unfortunate legacy that Tebow truthers were so committed to hyping up Tebow because of his intangibles and conservative politics that they pretended he wasn't a flaming bag of dog shit as a QB for the Broncos, extending a pointless dream chase. I would have to say the Tebow truthers share some responsibility in his failures in pro football, as Tebow not accepting he couldn't play QB in the NFL wasted a few years of his athletic prime, not to mention countless hours of SportsCenter coverage. He could have been a damn good starting MLB player by now, but no, you watched him shit wounded ducks out of his left hand into every direction on the field but his receiver's and told him to keep working at it. Man what a mistake that was.
If Tebow fans had sought the best for him, they would have called out his awfulness and shot down any notion that he could stick it out at QB. You all fed his delusions and you're sick people for it.
I'm glad he's on the right track now. Baseball is a great sport for him, because nobody will be able to make excuses for his play, good or bad. Baseball has a way of constraining the amount of bullshit one can read into a player's production. He'll sink or swim and no excuses can be made. Like I said, I wish he'd gotten started earlier but that's the fault of everyone who lied to Tebow about his ability to play in the NFL. I have a feeling he sticks in the majors for a while, his improvement is a good sign but he should be an established player by now.

One would think as a Broncos fan, you would appreciate how he took over a losing team with almost no chance of doing anything and inspiring them to become a national feel good story that featured one of the great moments in team history. He single handedly inspired that team and turned them into winners.
Tebow-mania was real. The greatest college football player in history with his extremely unconventional skill set and turning them around. It was like a movie.

Re: Why you don't hear about Tim Tebow lately...
I enjoyed the season, it doesn't mean I will pretend he was a good QB or that the miracle run was sustainable. The defense and special teams were the primary reasons for success, the offense was horrible overall, The Steelers game was a fun memory but that's it. It's a business, when you know a popular commodity has no chance of long term success and has peaked you move to the next option. The NFL is desperate for QB play and nobody thought he was worth a shot, you can't design an offense around a QB who couldn't throw the ball at all, simple as that.Foo wrote:One would think as a Broncos fan, you would appreciate how he took over a losing team with almost no chance of doing anything and inspiring them to become a national feel good story that featured one of the great moments in team history. You know what was sustainable from that 2011 run? Von Miller and Chris Harris became the best defenders at their positions in the NFL. Tebow was a fluke.

Tebow was an all time great in college and drafted as a qb. He has a winning record as an NFL qb. He can make a great living as a public speaker among other things, even if he never touched a football again.
Why should a guy with millions in the bank and a secure future due to his mind not do what he wants? If he doesn't want to become brain damaged by playing another position, that is a great decision to me.
He seems to be a special person destined for greatness. He has earned the right to choose how he gets there.

Almost every draft analyst worth a damn with any sense of objectivity knew he was another great college QB who couldn't translate to the pros. What do you think the hit rate for college QBs is, exactly? Do you remember some of the Heisman winners of the 90s and early 2000s?Foo wrote:Tebow was an all time great in college and drafted as a qb. He has a winning record as an NFL qb. Because he couldn't do it? You will only have a body that can make you money professionally for a certain period of time, he wasted a few of those prime years. Should have been playing rugby or starting baseball by 2012. Everyone knew he couldn't play in the NFL, from players to coaches to executives. Everyone. It is what it is, if he could have played he'd be in the league.

Special teams too. The offense was an abomination. Worst passing offense I've seen in this century.Jason wrote:I was gonna say Inb4defensediditall, but I was late.Foo wrote:One would think as a Broncos fan, you would appreciate how he took over a losing team with almost no chance of doing anything and inspiring them to become a national feel good story that featured one of the great moments in team history. Tebow doesn't seem like the type who wastes any years. He did other things. His desire was to be an NFL qb. Again, with his other opportunities, why get brain damage playing another position? Tebow can make millions doing about a dozen other things.Headhunter wrote:Almost every draft analyst worth a damn with any sense of objectivity knew he was another great college QB who couldn't translate to the pros. It is the NFLs loss. He would be an amazing asset as a backup qb, at minimum. A winner with unique skills who inspires men.
Re: Why you don't hear about Tim Tebow lately...
Jay Cutler and Jake Plummer threw some pretty spirals. Nice long NFL careers because talent evaluators would rather see pretty spirals thrown by a loser with no heart than wounded ducks thrown by a winner.

That's fine, but the reality is that it was a fruitless quest because he didn't have the ability. He would have been better off walking into the sunset after the 2011 season and fully committing to a new craft. That would have been legendary.Foo wrote:Tebow doesn't seem like the type who wastes any years. He did other things. His desire was to be an NFL qb. No he is not an amazing asset as a backup in any way. NFL teams want backups who can absorb the playbook, run the offense without severe limitations in a pinch and be a good practice player, zero of those things Tebow was capable of as proven in just two years in Denver. There is a reason the well ran dry for Tebow, there's nothing you can do with him as a QB, it hurts players around him in practice and wastes a roster spot for someone who has a chance to stick and be molded into something.

Both were Aaron Rodgers compared to Tim Tebow, so what's your point? You don't invest in fluke situations, everyone could see Tebow was a bad QB.Foo wrote:Jay Cutler and Jake Plummer threw some pretty spirals. Tim Tebow completed less than 50% of his passes in the NFL. There's really not much to debate here, he was a terrible quarterback.

Re: Why you don't hear about Tim Tebow lately...
I don't know. I would prefer to make the money Tebow made while doing what he loved. I would not consider it fruitless. He inspired millions and gave a city and a nation a thrill ride. He can't help it he has to deal with people who think they know what they obviously don't. How many current NFL qbs have more playoff wins than Tebow? Five?Headhunter wrote:That's fine, but the reality is that it was a fruitless quest because he didn't have the ability.
