Re: No Time to Die (SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!!)
No Time to Die is the 5th and final Bond film staring Daniel Craig. My own assessment of Craig is he is the very best Bond there has ever been hands down but he is also in some of the worst Bond films ever made. I rank Casino Royale and Skyfall as the top two 007 films but Quantum of Solace and Spectre are the bottom two. So Craigs Bond films are either really good or really not good. So where does No Time to Die rank. Unfortunately this is at the bottom with Quantum and Spectre. Things I liked. The best thing in this film is Ana De Armas she spews charisma to go with her breath taking beauty. She stole the criminally short amount of screen time she had. She should of had a bigger role but unfortunately this film focuses more on the painfully blah Léa Seydoux, Madeline Swann from Spectre. After the events of Spectre Bond apparently retired to spend the rest of his life with Swann even though he really never got over his love of Vesper Lynd from Casino Royale. There really is no on screen chemistry between Craig and Seydoux that I see. Nothing like what Craig and Eva Green had in Royale, that chemistry was amazing to watch. I never feel or see the love between Bond and Swann that I'm supposed to believe. Anyways back to things I liked. There are a few really well choreographed action scenes in this film. Well that's what I liked Ana and a few action scenes. Things I disliked. The villain Safin played by the talented Rami Malek is underdeveloped and as generic as villains come. He had some ridiculous back story about getting revenge on Swann's family to avenge the murder of his family. Her father killed his family on orders from Spectre so he decided to murder half the earth, some dumb shit like that. They brought Felix and Blofeld back to kill off I guess to add seriousness to the dumbass plot. The plot is nonsensical even for a Bond film. Safin's family were poison specialists so he created a poison that attacks specific DNA and decided to kill the earth because he was still pissed about his parents. They gave Safin his own bad guy underground island lair where he is mass producing the poison with nanotechnology he stole from MI6. He kidnaps Swann and her daughter for some reason. He's infatuated with Swann I guess. The daughter is Bonds that should be important but I didn't really care. Bond finds the island and goes to get Swann and his kid back and destroy the poison. He rescues his kid and his boo and sets them free and decides to kill himself on the island. Now you may say What? You mean he sacrifices himself to save the world right!? Nope he pointlessly stays behind to open some missile silo doors so England can blow up the poison. I say pointlessly because there really was no time limit or urgency to this plot. There was never any poison deployment scenario that required the base being destroyed as soon as possible. They just skipped this important plot point. Bond could of left with his new family while thousands of troops stormed the island and cleaned everything up but decided to stay and blow up with the base. Yes Bond does die in this....needless as it is he does get hit by an English fired missile. It was supposed to be heart wrenching but it was more like stomach churning for me. He decides to die because he has nano bot poison in his system that is set to kill Swann and his daughter if he ever makes contact with there skin. Ridiculous. Not only do they kill one of the most iconic characters in film history with more than 60 years of films but they choose this asinine reason to do it. I've heard Craig would only agree to do this film, a film he had zero interest in doing if Bond died in it. I wish Craig would of left after Spectre. There was another 007 in the movie but her role was basically pointless. She added nothing to the film just like Q being gay added nothing to the film. Just boxes to check. The first 2 hours and 30 minutes were what I would grade as C+ the last 30 minutes were D+ so I will give this a final grade of C-. Its my least favorite Bond film of all and I will not be watching it again anytime soon.
Re: No Time to Die (SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!!)
Yeah. I'm glad I was spoiled earlier this week. Fuck this movie. I have a blu ray box set of the 24 previous films and I am content at stopping there if they just want to go woke. Daniel Craig's stock went way down for not only going along with this nonsense, but apparently would only agree to play the character if it happened that way. Craig drops from number 5 to 6 as my new least favorite Bond.

Re: No Time to Die (SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!!)
It will be interesting as they specifically left a “James Bond will return” in the end credits. Not sure how they intend to do this unless they go one of two routes, neither of which I’m sure I know or like.
1. He does return, in an urn on the mantelpiece
2. They decide to establish in canon that James Bond is a title that goes down generation to generation. Which could kind of work, the same way M can be both Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes and Bernard Lee, or how Desmond Llewelyn can become John Cleese to Ben Whishaw.
On some level I think 2 let’s all of this exist in one universe, but it wouldn’t explain how you can have SPECTRE exist twice, so really it only adds to the issues. Or why the new girl was 007 but not Jane Bond.
I also really thought Malek’s Lucifer was just so awful as a villain. How can you let the guy kill off Blofeld and other major assets from the franchise in this absurd way only to be such a lame duck. I think on some level he lacked a good side kick. Auric Goldfinger was cool but had Oddjob backing him, and here there wasn’t reallya side kick at all. Which means it felt oddly flat.
I also cannot fathom why if they want him dead they made it so on screen. It’s James Bond for fucks sake. He doesn’t need a literal fireball to the face to incinerate nanobots before our very eyes!
And finally, I do think that there were some exciting action sequences which were well done, but the best ones came too early which was a shame.
I do think this may end up near the bottom of the pile for mad.
I do agree though that Ana de Armas was a sleek addition

Re: No Time to Die (SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!!)
I think they just reboot it just like they have done in the past. Start completely fresh. I do not think that the other 007 from this film will be 007 in any other film.
Re: No Time to Die (SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!!)
But that's just their job title, essentially. There will be a different 007, but Bond returning makes no sense unless they make him a zombie or start going the supernatural route where his ghost guides the new 007 chick. The reboot was the Craig era. Casino Royale takes place before Dr. No. In Dr. No, Bond already has 00 status. He achieves it in Casino Royale. Also, Blofeld is back in the Craig era, Spectre is back, etc...Tiggnutz wrote:I think they just reboot it just like they have done in the past. Start completely fresh. I think they just decided to go woke as fuck and bury the entire franchise.
Re: No Time to Die (SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!!)
They are just going to reboot it again but I think the Bond character type we knew from the last 60+ years is gone. They didn't just kill Bond they fucking scorched and salted the earth he was standing on. They wanted any past memories of him gone and thats what they did.Jason wrote:But that's just their job title, essentially. I do wonder how they take out forward. That will be exciting to see.
The more time passes the more I did think this was a bad choice to make by the writers.
