Clint Eastwood technically, but I lean heavier on his directing than his acting.

Carpenter and Hitchcock are my two favorite directors. I think Carpenter may edge Hitchcock for #1.zombie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 9:14 pmcool. i guess i should have got that, as he was one of hitchcock's favorites.
I'm kinda half assing a Clint marathon. The only movie I don't have with him in it is The Witches and that movie looks like ass anyway. Where Eagles Dare is next up.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 9:14 pmClint Eastwood technically, but I lean heavier on his directing than his acting.
Nobody talks about Mitchum enough. His Cady lives in the shadow of DeNiro but for my money he's not too far behind.Headhunter wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:29 pm Jack Nicholson, Humphrey Bogart and Robert Mitchum are my guys
i actually can't decide who my favorite director is. but neither carpenter nor hitchcock are bad picks at all.Jason wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:25 pmCarpenter and Hitchcock are my two favorite directors. If you combine the dual occupation of actor/director, I can't imagine anyone on Clint Eastwood's level. Unless I'm missing someone glaringly obvious, he's the only guy I can think of where you can argue he's the best actor or director ever.zombie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 11:05 pmi actually can't decide who my favorite director is. but neither carpenter nor hitchcock are bad picks at all.Jason wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:25 pmCarpenter and Hitchcock are my two favorite directors. Wish John Huston had more big acting roles. 1 of 1 presence.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 11:19 pm Gibson's a pretty fantastic director, and I've always liked his acting. He's the only one I think could compete with Eastwood for the actor/director combo level.
QT needs to quit worrying about the number 10 and just keeping dishing out fuckin bangers.Headhunter wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 12:04 am Directors is too hard.
Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Howard Hawks, John Carpenter, John Huston and I feel like I’m disrespecting a dozen legends
His whole 10 movie thing is built on the BS premise that directors suck when they’re old. That was more (still not but more) true when the Golden Age guys tried to extend their careers into the New Hollywood era but now? lol Scorsese can’t stop making masterpiecesJason wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 12:15 amQT needs to quit worrying about the number 10 and just keeping dishing out fuckin bangers.Headhunter wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 12:04 am Directors is too hard.

I understand his approach, but he's gonna beef out number 10, it's gonna rock the shit. He's gonna be sitting back with good ideas and what is he just gonna not make another movie? He's holding back his own legacy with that mentality, in my opinion.Headhunter wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 12:22 amHis whole 10 movie thing is built on the BS premise that directors suck when they’re old.
