Hellarious. A horror comedy anthology. The ad I saw said "Seven of the most legendary horror-comedy shorts ever made from some of the world's best genre filmmakers." Afterwards, I looked up the filmmakers. Never heard of any of them, and this was the first time directing a film for a few. Legendary? I doubt I'll remember more than a few snippets by the end of the day. Gotta love false advertising. It's not terrible by any means, but it's mediocre at best. I just hate that they had the audacity to use that line to advertise it. Guess it's worth watching if you're bored and haven't got anything better to watch.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Finally got around to watching this. It was surprisingly good. I still think the marshmallow guys were dumb, but everything else felt right. Even got a little teary-eyed towards the end.

I have emotions other than anger, frustration, and depression, they just don't make an appearance very often. :p

John and the Hole. Not a porn, but just as pointless. Kid drugs his parents and sister, then puts them in a hole in the ground while he just kinda dicks around. Sounded interesting, but there's no payoff, it just kinda ends with no resolution. There's also a weird side story that is about ten minutes or so long that is shown in three parts and has nothing to do with the rest of the film, but is randomly thrown in at thirty minute intervals. Huge waste of time.

I figured we'd get the T-800 to cry before Slaughter.

I now know why you cry.

I too really liked the new Ghostbusters, and I'm no busters fan. Thought the girl playing Phoebe the feeb did a good job. Had the right "feel" to it too, modern but 80's. Reitman's kid did good.

I would watch a whole film about Phoebe. Great character and performance

Kill, Baby, Kill. I liked it. I give it a B.

Eternals. About half the movie is spent getting the band back together. Big reveal was expected. Kumail and his buddy were great, Gilgamesh was cool, but I was not expecting to see Pip in the mid-credits scene, so that was a pleasant surprise. I've always liked Pip, and Oswalt was a good choice to voice him. Overall an ok film.

Scream 5 is decent, better than 3 but that's about it. My two biggest gripes is Brian Tyler's half assed attempt at scoring the film (something I thought he did good taking over with on Rambo, how he flopped here I dunno), and the killer revelations were just eh (let alone one I suspected very early on, and it still doesn't make much sense). The kill scenes are pretty damn good though. Lots of great throat stabbing works going on that looked practical, but if it was actually CGI, then it was even more impressive.
The new lead gal, Sam, is pretty bland...even with an interesting backstory, which tells me nothing is wrong with the script, but the actress playing her is just that dull.
So I guess that's 3 gripes lol.
I gave it a B-

Eternals - Not nearly as bad as i was expecting. Biggest problem is its just too bloated with things, it really needed a massive amount of editing and character deletion. Way too many characters. Overall C+ very close to B- territory.

Just finished the new Wrong Turn (remake).
Definitely a different feel, but I found quite a bit of it interesting. A little too long, I feel, but otherwise I had a moderately good time.

Entropy. A group of friends get together for dinner because an old friend is back in town. I only watched this because of the absurd claim that compared it to Carpenter's shit. Everyone has their creepy dial turned up to 11, so either the direction was bad, or these are some dog shit actors. Probably both. Either way, no one involved has ever heard of subtlety, so the first twist is obvious from the get-go. Then, with less than ten minutes to go, it pulls a Billy Mays and finally gets my attention only to lose it again shortly after by having a scene that is nothing but walking happily through some grass with some lame dream-like music playing that goes on forever. The last couple minutes goes back to the good stuff, but honestly, it wasn't worth it. The whole thing should have been thirty minutes, but there were so many scenes that just dragged ass for several minutes to pad the runtime.
TL;DR: Shoulda been a short film and mostly a waste of time. Whoever made the claim that this was reminiscent of Carpenter should be ashamed.

Power of the Dog ......................... A
Excellent performances, I was engaged with the story, especially with the slow-burning tension the entire time, only for it to just kinda whimper out on the ending. The climax is just a character revelation that is usually an Act II beat? Really? Everything was just coming down to this? All the tension and suspense made it feel like a thriller building to something, so I feel bait-n-switched when it came down to the ending. That said, everything else was fantastic, and I was impressed to see a Netflix movie look so cinematic for once, rather than looking like it was shot on basic digital cameras then polished in post-production.

Ditched. A prison medical transport gets into an accident and a group of psychos hunt them down. There are three paramedics, two cops, and two criminals(technically three, but one is dies from the accident which happens before the film even starts). The criminal in the ambulance is fucking hilarious, the other one annoying as shit. The reason behind the hunt is evident relatively quickly, though the full explanation is given a bit at a time. This was really good. Definitely worth checking out.

That's another one that says it's Carpenter-esque. Everyone knows who he is all the sudden?
I was the only kid on the playground with a Starman lunch box. It was lonely out there on that perch. All these johnny-come-latelys can go fuck themselves.

I didn't see that comparison in the trailer. It's good, but I don't see how anyone can compare it to his stuff.
I've never actually seen Starman.

One would think, especially in the 80s, you wouldn't have to explain the coolness of something called Starman, could be a fucking MegaMan villain, yet here we are.
