Not really an issue for me and it was really just a problem with a few select minorities (mostly Latinos and Native Americans) 50+ years ago.
i have some slight misgivings with it in earlier movies, knowing that white actors were cast into minority roles because those minorities were being shut out for whatever reason. but i have less of an issue now because minorities have their take of a lot of roles, while white actors do as well obviously.
White actors played minority acting roles? Wut?
audrey hepburn, mickey rooney, boris karloff, john wayne. obviously they are all more known for other roles but they had played minority characters in at least one role. and also david carradine is probably best known for his role, doing that. it happened in a lot of cases.
Did John Wayne play an Apache Indian? I'm confused.

The one “issue” that comes up now is whether minorities should play white roles in remakes/reboots/adaptations. And my answer would be yes, if the context makes sense. Most of the criticisms I see are very superficial.
Literally racist. Lol.
So you either misread my post, I misread your response or your brain just broke.
Considering the color of skin when hiring is racist, no?
Yeah that’s not what I’m talking about at all so what are you doing here
You literally said minorities should replace whites depending on context. That's entirely a skin color preference in the hiring process. Hence rassism

Meaning, if the context actually is a minority in a prominent role like in the case of Genghis Khan, go for it in recasting the white guy.

He played Genghis Khan.
I have to see this.
Terrible movie most famous for exposing the cast and crew to nuclear radiation and probably killing a lot of them

Works for me. Where do we draw the line? If Saving Private Ryan was remade should we actually cast a military private whose name is Ryan?
If you can’t separate the character from being either white or a minority, like it’s actually fundamental to the character itself, it obviously makes less sense to change that. I think what I’m talking about is pretty obvious

I’m having trouble understanding why that question would make sense to you.

you guys are not actually reading what he said and are getting more and more ridiculous with it.

Right. That works. But we can't pretend this is only what Hollywood wants to do.

No. This is why I said prominent, and let us not get into the fuckery over every role. But if the script is calling for a South Asian male lead, go for it.
Reservoir Dogs was remade as a stage play with all black actors. That would be one case where the race stuff is not really fundamental to the characters without dramatically changing everything. No reason to believe there couldn’t be an all-black criminal operation like that. So that would be one scenario where I have no problem with it.

Scripts have mainly been calling to do shitty remakes and replace the leads with not whitey

Were they roles where having a black actor didn’t make sense? If not why am I supposed to be bothered?

I’ll buy that if you have examples.
Let's remake Little Mermaid!
Let's also make her black for no reason.
Let's create a new Scooby Doo cartoon where Velma is the lead!

Agreed. Now remake Beverly Hills Cop with a white guy.
Fuck it, we might actually get a good one this time.

That would be a good example of fundamentally changing the premise of the whole thing
