Wasn't he scheduled for the hall of fame? If he wasn't already a shoe-in first ballot...
ABC certainly jumped the gun. On one hand you're glad they're alive, but on the other hand, that means other fellow humans died instead. There's no winning. It's just a terrible tragedy.showa58taro wrote:I only read on kid (13 year old) was on the chopper, not all four. Given wife survived then it would be weird if the newborn was there. Still very tragic.
Celebrities need to stop traveling by helicopter. The amount of celebrity deaths by private aircraft is so alarming.showa58taro wrote:apparently he always travels by helicopter.
I hated him as a player, he ruined Portland several times a year. I was always annoyed by him and always wanted him to fail. I’m not going to reverse all that and belittle how impactful his career was on me even in the negative way it was for me. Still so sad and tragic, he deserved better than what has befallen. He will be missed.Jmac Attack wrote:This is so sad. I take back every "Fuck Kobe!" post I've ever made. Dude is a legend. He tried to make a positive impact with his celebrity and money. Now, I wish I didn't hate him while he was playing. Because I never hated the person. I'm just a fucking idiot and hate winners. Because I'm jealous. Ugh. Why does this hit me in the feels so much? RIP Kobe.
Kobe was not the pilot.Jason wrote:Reports say Kobe was the pilot and flying his daughter, her teammate and the father to their game, but Kobe flew into a fog that was way to thick to be flying into.
This feels like a dream. It's crazy.
Stevie Ray Vaughn. Clapton was almost in that helicopter!Jason wrote:Celebrities need to stop traveling by helicopter. The amount of celebrity deaths by private aircraft is so alarming.showa58taro wrote:apparently he always travels by helicopter.
Like Jordan, he was a guy I loved to hate. But this transcends all of those feelings. He was truly great. And a good person. He always gave back to the community and relished that role. Man....this is definitely up there for me when David Bowie passed away. For different reasons, obviously, but this really stings. Especially hearing that his daughter passed away. I feel so horrible for his wife. She really has stood by him. And now she lost two people that make up a big part of her existence. Truly sad.showa58taro wrote:I hated him as a player, he ruined Portland several times a year. I was always annoyed by him and always wanted him to fail.
