I didn't watch it since it aired, and I remember strongly disliking it as it went. Yeah, it hit certain beats more faithfully as an adaption, but it didn't make it better a movie (hey, just like Howling IV: The Original Nightmare!). Plus the changed ending to open it up for a regular series was pretty lame.
A rewatch is warranted, I would concur, but I might do that during the challenge.
I just find the '76 Carrie consistently below average. Wouldn't make a top 75 list of favorite 70's horror films, honestly. That's just me, though. I can accept being right by myself.

75 is scraping at the bottom of the barrel, for the 70s horror. ouch.

So Carrie is apparently below the bottom of the barrel. Almost impressive.

you think carrie is dull. i think the exorcist is overrated. we can both be wrong.
I still think if they didn't fuck up the prom sequence in the 2013 Carrie so bad, I would find it at least on par with the 76 version. I really liked Chloe and Julianne more in the roles than sissy and Piper (though admittedly, Chloe more because she's the proper age range, but they didn't cast that young back then).

The Exorcist wouldn't make a top 75 list either
That said, it's been a hell of a long time since I've seen it. I'm talking over ten years.

i'm curious if you could even assemble a top 75 of the 70s. what would that look like, especially without those two films?

I can't do a ranked list, but I could put together a list of 70's horror I enjoy more than those too.

of 75? i dare you! are you up to the challenge?
I'm compiling it now. I'll probably post it in today's chat thread as to now disrupt the flow of this topic. It'll probably be organized by year.
