Even from that era, I would say 96 or 97. WCW and ECW were going strong. By 2000, both turned from wine to vinegar.

Do you remember how bad WCW got the last couple years? It would have had to improve 100% to be even called WrestleCrap. Judy Bagwell on a pole. Viagra on a pole. David Arquette and Vince Russo both winning the World Title, Jarrett laying down for Hogan, Nash handing Flair the belt, etc.

For the WWF, definitely. Was the ideal combination of Attitude Era energy with memorable PPVs and matches. The earlier years of the era were entertaining for the wild storylines and personalities, but the quality of wrestling wasn't as high.

The WCW/ECW transplants really took the mid card to another level as well.

Yeah. That's when WWF took over as king for me. But mid-90s WCW was amazing. Hall & Nash and the nWo was the best thing ever.

Definitely up there overall, but I was at WrestleMania 2000 aka 16 and it's easily regarded as one of the worst (as being there I think some are harsher on it, but definitely bottom end), so IDK.
It was definitely a disappointing Mania. Still, I consider the tag team ladder match one of the best ever.

Nia Jax is the type of chick that would get KO'd by Jeff Jarrett's guitar.

"I didn't have a damn hour to walk around her."

1995-1998 ECW is as good as it gets. That was also probably the golden era of WCW.

Yup. Damn shame Tigg missed that shit. I have a bunch of old Nitro/Thunder VHS tapes lying around somewhere. Every time I see a DVD box set of 90s era WCW it is an instant buy.

The WWF really capitalized on WCW's inability to prioritize its young talent. I can't hate on ECW in that sense, they knew how to push those guys but it was always going to be an uphill battle to hang on to them.

The last truly great era to me was SmackDown's mini-run in the early 2000s after the brand split where they seemed to have all the best young talents. Plus, the GOAT Paul Heyman was the head writer at the time. By comparison, RAW was old, sluggish and couldn't figure out how to build anything interesting around Triple H's title runs.

I felt alone in preferring Smackdown back then. But RAW did have Evolution.

I think '99 overall, maybe. Looks like that's when I really got into ECW and WWF firing on all cylinders. WCW coming down, not bad, but still. I mean they did the finger-poke of doom then, and then Vince and co. raped them and never looked back.

I think it's just more people watched Raw. In hindsight I don't see how anyone could have preferred it. The quality of the wrestling was soooooo much better on Smackdown. Angle, Lesnar, young heel Cena, Biker Undertaker, Eddie, Benoit, Edge...

SmackDown's roster would really get gutted starting in 04. They had to get really creative to even make it watchable for a time.

Sounds about right, if memory serves.

How extensive is the WWE Network library? What do they and don't they have? Debating getting a subscription.

I think I free-trialed it years back. But not sure.
