You won't have enough money to sign big free agents going forward, so taking on the big contract in the trade isn't a big deal. You'd just have to hope the Murray-Beal-Jokic trio with some good depth and those coaches can be enough against the LA teams.

Portland needs to get rid of Lillard, to be honest. He takes a lot of ill-advised shots and carries a team on his back that is fully capable of winning by themselves.
