hmm.. that doesn't give me a lot of hope.

Diamonds Are Forever still has some great scenes in it. Car chase, elevator... Connery is aces as always, but poor characters and that weird drag scene bring the movie down a peg or two.

what are the best non-bond spy or secret agent movies? (looking for something to keep me in the mood)

And they wasted the name Plenty O'Toole on about two minutes of bad acting.

I guess go with the Mission Impossibles. I've only seen the first and wasn't very overwhelmed by it. It was pretty decent.

MI 3 is the best of them. The 2nd is the only one I didn't care for.

It's in my big three funniest movies ever made. Fletch, Vacation and Dumb & Dumber. Fletch Lives is great, too.
