Blair Witch needs a rewatch, but I remember not loving it.

I watched Dawn of the Dead once in 2006 and thought it was far inferior to the original. Thought it was too actiony, not enough horror. Needs rewatch.

The Descent I've given multiple chances and never loved it. Though I actually came to enjoy it a bit during this last challenge, but I still think it's supremely overhyped for my own liking.

Final Destination needs a rewatch, but I remember liking the first two well enough.

The Hitcher remake was pretty solid in my book. It needs a rewatch but I remember enjoying Sean Bean's performance quite a bit.

The Last House on the Left remake was one I remember liking but needs a rewatch. I mainly only remember the microwave ending. :P

The Mist might be my least favorite on this list but also probably most in need of a rewatch. I will never forget how much the ending completely pissed me off.

The Strangers was a movie I absolutely loved when it came out. It's cooled off pretty majorly over the years and I enjoy it well enough.

The Witch is probably my favorite movie on the list. Either that or The Strangers.

The lack of Ginger Snaps, Insidious, It Follows, 30 Days of Night and the Friday remake is a bit disappointing. :P

The main appeal I think was the tricking of the audiences into thinking there is a possibility that it is actually real footage. Same thing with Paranormal Activity. I went on a double date with my girlfriend and my buddy and his girlfriend and they were all convinced they were watching a demonic murder snuff film. :P

I liked The Blair Witch Project a lot and I used to go camping in that area. It's not something I can rewatch though

The first time I watched, the ending did creep me out but that's not the reason. I've watched it twice and once you know what's up it just feels gimmicky

Yeah, I liked it quite a bit. I haven't watched in a long time, but found footage movies really don't age well for the most part and they're kinda hard on the eyes. At least with Paranormal Activity the camera was stationary most of the time.

I watched it when I was somewhere between 12-15 or so and it just didn't hit me hard at all. I don't know why.

i don't have that experience with found footage broadly. i love some right alongside more traditionally filmed flicks. but i get that they're gonna be a tough watch for some.

Would? is 10/10 easily, hell that whole album is a 10/10 ripper.

I liked Blair Witch Project. The appeal was getting wrapped up in the lore and watching the shit unfold. Unfortunately, a fair criticism, is you don't actually see supernatural stuff on camera, you just have to go along with the lore you're told ahead of time.

I can see why Found Footage doesn't age well though, it is pretty much locked in with the tech quality of easy-access cameras of the time.

[rec] and [rec]2 are the crowning achievement of the sub-genre, IMO.

I have a [rec] bluray box set that I almost watched for the challenge but decided to save it for next year. Haven't seen any of them, and I figured I'd space out some foreign watches after I was blown away by When Evil Lurks.

For those who've seen both, which is better between [rec] and When Evil Lurks?

Hmmm that's tough. I will give [rec] a slight nod. It is the best found footage movie I've seen
