Luckily the My Bloody Valentine remake was decent.

I tend to think that there are plenty of good horror remakes, but only 3 I can think of that I truly believe are better than the original films: The Thing (1982), The Fly (1986) and The Blob (1988).

It doesn't really count as a remake to me since the version people remember was a tv miniseries and not a movie, but if people want to count it, then it makes 4 remakes I think are better than the originals.

Oh, shit. I forgot Cat People. I'm tired. I think the 1982 Cat People is leagues better than the original.

IT counts for me and was better. Other entries I think allget mentioned, though I am unsure I have seen the originals for those.
