In fact, I just got a notice from the water company that said they were going to nearly quadruple the water bill for residents in my town by 2020. The notice said they wouldn't do it if they received 40,000 letters of complaints. They received 43, total.

Liberals can increase the minimum wage all they want, it's not going to stop the gas, electric and water companies from bending you over and fucking you in the ass.

And people wonder why you need regulators.

I wouldn't complain if it helped the rent/utilities situation.

Not sure what you're asking about here. As in 6-8 dollars/hour? That depends on the job and the location. Minimum wage in florida is $8.25/hour. A livable wage in my town is about $14/hour(i.e. you can pay your bills and have money for food and necessities, but you'll live in the ghetto and not have money for anything else). In a place like LA or NYC, that same $14/hour wouldn't even come close to paying your rent, let alone anything you need to survive. So yeah, it varies wildly by location and job.

Like me! Only in SoCal the livable wage is more like $22, like you mention.

Yeah, there's that, too. Everything varies too much to generalize. I have to keep everyone under forty in off-season, but they're willing to pay overtime in-season. Meanwhile, the store manager is required to work sixty plus a week all year.

It’s become a big topic in the UK as it clearly disadvantages and puts pressure on poor people who have so much uncertainty in their employment. Resulted in a change in laws to remove them.
