Assuming Film-Noir does not count.

1. The Godfather
2. Goodfellas
3. Pulp Fiction
4. The Godfather Pt. 2
5. Heat
6. Casino
7. The Departed
8. Road to Perdition
9. Once Upon a Time in America
10. Miller's Crossing

I'd take that top 5 over any other genre list possible.

I don't think John Wick should count. It's an action movie set in a gangster fantasy world, I think this list should be more grounded and real. And yeah, Pulp Fiction has a "gangster fantasy world" of its own but that's not an action movie at its core like John Wick is.

I think it was more around gangsters and criminals in my mind. But which film were you thinking of that is crime but not criminal focussed?
i saw some mentions of the departed, which i've gotten crap for in such lists before. so i was just curious.
Who in the blue fuck gave you shit for the Departed when it totally fits into this grab bag? NOW the Dark Knight is where I think we all go huh?! :?: :?: :?: But unless you lay strict ground rules, it does have Mob bosses and crime and shiz, so.
the dark knight is focused a lot on the joker. i think the crime and such drives the plot. batman is kind of just reacting to the mob bosses and the joker and such. he's not actually driving the plot to me. but if you guys think it doesn't qualify. or any of my other choices, let me know and i'll go with a different pick.
I'm not gonna fight ya on it. I mean it's gonna be seen as this Blockbuster Superhero/Batman movie first, which is why it may not spring to mind, but like I said, unless you lay strict ground rules, it's got the basics. It's not like the Avengers where Loki may commit "crimes" but he sure as shit ain't no gangster or mob boss or summat, and we all Boo you for that pick. :P

The Dark Knight is Heat with comic book characters. But I wouldn't call it a gangster movie as none of the important characters are gangsters.

Maybe that is it with the tone, a more real world tone. While most listed are still fictional, they have a real world mob/gangster/crime world vibe. John Wick, The Dark Knight, Sin City, not so much, for obvious reasons. They were striving for other things.

I would give more leeway to crime comedies like Snatch than those action-heavy crime utopia ones.

I also think noir is just its own thing. A different kind of over the top.

Jules would kill Joker on general principle.

That would be Vincent, by the way, esquire.
