NO... I put myself in that situation by making dumb ass decisions. It had nothing to do with capitalism or socialism.

That's fine, then.
For other people, they're put in that situation because of the system, and it's those people I'm concerned with (such as homeless veterans - which is an atrocity - or people who lost their homes to predatory lenders).

Those Situations are different but there are a lot of people who just fuck up, never learn their lessons and end up in one bad situations after the next because of their choices.Jigsaw wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:49 pmThat's fine, then.

I don't care if someone fucks up. They deserve a home, and food, and the possibility of a life. A mistake doesn't mean we can let them rot on the streets. This is why I find the current system inhumane.Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:52 pmThose Situations are different but there are a lot of people who just fuck up, never learn their lessons and end up in one bad situations after the next because of their choices.Jigsaw wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:49 pmThat's fine, then.

Food, and possibility of a life is one thing. But Jigs, you can't really expect a home for every single kid crapped out into the world. I'm not talking about a house - a small apartment - hell, one room - would be fine with me. Fuck it, a group home. Just shelter of some type. I've never said, nor have I ever said, that everyone needs a fully-furnished house.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:56 pmFood, and possibility of a life is one thing. why not a group living situation or some kind of reasonable shelter? it doesn't have to be a home for every individual. unless jig feels differently.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:56 pmFood, and possibility of a life is one thing. Ok. You guys play house at the "group shelter". That sounds like quality family living I'll bring my children up in.
Not.

Re: Jiggy's Political Corner
I'm not saying it's ideal. But it's far more reasonable than a house for everyone, and it's certainly better than being on the streets.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 6:00 pm Ok. You guys play house at the "group shelter". That sounds like quality family living I'll bring my children up in.

Taking personal responsibility and not crapping out a bunch of kids the world doesn't need is not on the table at all, huh?

If we had actually sex education in schools - banned abstinence-only bs - gave out free condoms starting at middle school, and allowed for the right to choose in every state, then we can talk about other solutions.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 6:04 pm Taking personal responsibility and not crapping out a bunch of kids the world doesn't need is not on the table at all, huh?
If a teenager gets pregnant at 15 because they went through a shitty abstinence-only education and their parents refused to give them support, then I don't feel the least bit that the blame falls solely on their shoulders - especially since someone else was involved with getting them pregnant to begin with.

That rhetoric is only useful as a deterrent. It solves nothing to tell people they fucked up after they fucked up. At some point you deal with the problem instead of just complaining about how things should be.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 6:04 pm Taking personal responsibility and not crapping out a bunch of kids the world doesn't need is not on the table at all, huh?

Fair enough we all fuck up along the way here, I'm cool with communal living for em. Can we keep em all centralized to like fucking Alabama or summat?

I imagine that there'd need to be at least one or two facilities per state, but then again, I'm not up on the homeless numbers. Some places - like Portland, Oregon - may need some on-site or somewhat near the site, just because of the large numbers we're talking.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 6:37 pm Fair enough we all fuck up along the way here, I'm cool with communal living for em. I have a friend who lives in Portland, on a side-note, and every other time I talk to him, he has a story about some methhead threatening him, so it sounds like an exciting place to live.

Since Reign didn't accurately state my belief, I hope you're not referring to me. I've yet to hear a single reason why any of my beliefs couldn't be actualized in this very world we live on.Lazerus wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 3:32 pmReign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:56 pmFood, and possibility of a life is one thing.
