Never thought about it until this viewing, but Max Von Sydow's portrayal of Father Merrin in The Exorcist is definitely one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. WOW.

Seriously. And combined with his performance, you'd have to convince me he's not actually an old man. The mannerisms, the hand spasms, the way he walks around, the way he moves his lips. I can't pick the best performance ever to me, but if I compiled a short list, this one would make it.

I keep forgetting that. Yes, that performance is so underrated.

It never even occurred to me that he wasn't really that old until it finally hit me while watching Flash Gordon just how much younger he looked 7 years after The Exorcist.

You needed to think about whether Max von Sydow is great. Get the fuck outta here. Swedish legend.

Right up there with Peter Forsberg.
