Woah woah woah, you guys pre-empted all that going back yeeeeears because I was adamant about Tebow not being an NFL player so no, me countering the Tebow fanaticism (that is often directed toward me in threads, ahem) ain't the same. And it was never personal other than pointing out that conservatives gravitate toward him and it's often more political in division than it should be. I've been saying Tebow should play another sport for years, should have been rugby but I'm happy for him in baseball, goodness. For college football I'll be like "Hey everyone! There's a college football game today!" in a thread and I get two to three people at a time talking shit about the sport for no reason. Hard to be that interested without watching and enjoying.

Doesn't change the fact that Tebow was one of the greatest players of college football's modern era. Tebow, Lamar Jackson, Vince Young, Reggie Bush, Christian McCaffrey, Cam Newton and Johnny Manziel are the most exciting players of recent history.

That's also what makes college football fun. Athletes kill it at the QB position, sure NFL busts are still incredible talents in college off their athletic tools alone. It's beautiful to watch.

He could've made the same in Denver as a starter. Now he's making 21 times less as a back up again.

I'd heard through the media at the time that he actually took slightly less, but I don't think that was true.

Houston: 4-year, $72 million
Denver: 4-year, $70 million

It was 16 million per year average compared to 18 for Houston. We'll never know about the guaranteed money but given he did not even consider Denver's final offer it probably wasn't a full two year guarantee like Houston's. I don't think it was all that close.

Well, not sure if it was 3 or 4 years but I found an article that said it was 30 million in guaranteed money. Account for no state income tax in Texas, and that's a pretty big difference. And remember that was the Hail Mary offer at the last second when they thought he was gone.

What also makes this stuff tricky is how misleading "guaranteed" figures we see reported can be. Some guarantees are really just injury-only triggers and such and the nuance is understood by few and clarified by none. No idea if the Broncos' 30 was a legit 30, but we do know now that Houston's was a legit 37.

Yeah, a lot of these guarantees end up being largely bullshit.
