Watching it again now, Round 4 is where Maywheather really executed the rope-a-dope. He let Conor exhaust himself on the ropes and then started exploding out.

It was brilliant for him though. He made 99% of his money as the heel. As amazing as he was for a decade, he couldn't sell a fight until he fought De La Hoya at 30, that seemed to be when he really started promoting the obnoxious personality.

Professionally it was, but he grew up boxing as a kid so the fundamentals were there. Mayweather has never done anything but box.

In all honesty, even if he was up for it there's 0% chance MMA could draw the numbers to meet whatever Floyd's price would be.

I think McGregor could have won this shit if someone taught him some fucking defense. And obviously more cardio would've went a ways, but god damn, learning better slipping and putting up the arms/gloves would've went good like Floyd doing all day.

Okay, now you're drifting into MMA mark delusions a bit. Mayweather would have adjusted to anything McGregor showed him and he has broken down every kind of defense. Too much speed, too much intelligence and Conor's power wasn't anything Floyd hadn't seen before. Floyd's game plan accounted for wanting to go out giving the fans a show.
