friday the 13th part 4 is not nor was ever the best slasher of all time, nor even of the year that it was releaseds... and this belongs here more than it does in the politics thread, so yeah.

So I've seen *checks list* 33 horror movies from 1984. Of the ones I consider slashers, the best two are obviously Rocktober Blood and Satan's Blade.



Actually, both of those were quite solid in my view, but ANOES beats out The Final Chapter, and while I love The Final Chapter, it actually ties with Children of the Corn in terms of personal enjoyment (I give both movies an 8.5/10).

i have never seen your "favorite" slashers of the year. i may have to track them down.

the 1980's was the golden age of horror films IMO.

Honorable mention to the 1970's, it also had some great films. The early 90's stuff was good but things began downgrading around 94/95 imo.
The 00's sucked mostly due to remake fever and the 2010's were just blah minus a few decent films.

Hey, those documents got lost following a computer crash, if my memory serves. I had some real corkers in there, too.

That said, I've long-since come to the conclusion that I'm not suited to lists like that. Once I've reviewed every horror movie I've seen from the 1980's, I can post my top 100 based on my ratings. I'll make that a top priority following October, just for you.

What about Warrington Gillette?

Gillette doesn't get a mention because all he did was play unmasked Jason in the window scene. Dash actually portrayed Jason throughout the film.

I thought he was kinda short when I met him. I thought he had more of a part in it but I guess not

There was a massive clashing of heads like 20 years ago between the two of them because Warrington always took credit for playing Jason when he didn't. Things eventually simmered down though. But apparently Warrington still signs pictures of Jason from part 2 that isn't him.

He signed a Friday the 13th part 2 Jason figurine for me. He was cool. I would of still got his autograph either way even if he was barely in it

Satan's Blade seems to be on YouTube in full (and in HD, if the title can be believed). Can't find Rocktober Blood in an obvious place (YouTube, Tubi, Plex, etc.), but to be entirely honest, I can't remember a ton about it - just that I had fun with it.

I loved Ginger Snaps. I never saw May and I've watched the Descent more than once and I can't bring myself to understand the hype. I will most likely give it yet another go at some point, though.

sure. i think that the 1960s actually has a little bit of ground on the 70s ,horror quality-wise. but texas chainsaw massacre, exorcist, and halloween do a lot of heavy lifting in people's memories of the 1970s.

i love the 2000s horror output up until about 08 or so. which drops slightly for the decade, and then around 2012 or so it picks up again. i think the 2000s and 2010s may be my favorites after the 80s. the 90s might be second worst after the 40s, but i still think there is a lot to offer there too. it's too early to have much opinion on the 2020s but it does seem weaker than the past two decades in my opinion.

I loved Ginger Snaps. I never saw May and I've watched the Descent more than once and I can't bring myself to understand the hype. I will most likely give it yet another go at some point, though.
