What are you watching?
Re: What are you watching?
I'll never understand my father's dislike for Moore. He makes a great Bond.
Re: What are you watching?
I like all Bonds. The only problem I have with Moore is he is all charm and wit. Very little badassery. We didn't get to see that until Dalton and Brosnan brought it back. Dalton was a completely different monster with the intensity he brought to the franchise in the two movies he did.
Re: What are you watching?
More intense than Craig?
Re: What are you watching?
I tend to associate Craig with machoness as opposed to intensity. But Craig is also a great Bond. I had him at #3 before this Bondathon, but I think I'll probably move Dalton up to 3 and Craig to 4 after I watch Spectre. Quantum of Solace was just bad, and he didn't quite have it in him to carry the film like Connery or Brosnan.Monster wrote:More intense than Craig?
Re: What are you watching?
I'm looking forward to the Dalton movies. I saw The Living Daylights in the theater and once more during my last Bondathon. I remember a big airplane scene. That's about it.
Re: What are you watching?
I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of that one. Gonna end up at #3 or #4 on my list.

Moonraker
Silly but fun, as I recall.

For Your Eyes Only
Re: What are you watching?
Worst opening ever, but a top ten actual Bond flick for me. The final encounter was done so well.
Re: What are you watching?
Good thing Melina left her scuba tank on the ocean floor for no apparent reason.
Re: What are you watching?
Didn't they cut her oxygen line?
Re: What are you watching?
no, that was later.
Re: What are you watching?
She was using a suction hose on that submerged city, or whatever, when Bond showed up. She just took it off before going back up to the boat. Made no sense.
Re: What are you watching?
Weird. I might pop in the DVD tonight and try to solve this mystery.
Re: What are you watching?
Please do. It's very possible I missed something.
Re: What are you watching?
I checked it out. The only thing that made sense to me was that since they were examining the ruins, she left it there to remember where she left off, which is what people in her character's profession tend to do. I googled it to be sure, and that was the case...
The answer I got:
It's a place marker. Underwater Ruins are just like any other archaeological site - they must be examined inch by inch. Ultimately, Melina is an archaeologist, and those ruins are huge. She's close enough to her boat that she has plenty of air, and in shallow enough water that she won't get the bends. So she's leaving something large enough both to be seen and that it won't drift away/be eaten by sharks or other fish by the time she comes back to pick up where she left off.

Re: What are you watching?
Okay. that makes sense. They should've pointed that out in the movie. The layman wouldn't know this.
