I support them both until people start killing in the name. BLM. Antifa. Violent scum. Both sides of the spectrum are essentially preaching the same shit. The central issue is on the table, but it's being exorcised through race wars and violence. The legacy media is capitalizing off of this, now that white people are finally involved. They love it. Can you imagine if they listened to Trump when he said we all need to come together and unite as one? Imagine BLM and the new Unite the Right groups coming together. They will realize that despite the racial issue being solved now, they are still getting fucked over. The central issue has still not been addressed, but now people are onto it.zombie wrote:black lives matter is not a hate group, or even a group in the sense that they are not organized. it seemed like you feel that unite the right is a hate group?Jason wrote:Boom. if people kill in the name of something, those people should be punished at large, and condemned by the group they are using to stand behind. if that group is taking credit for murder (or even threat or oppression), whether it be antifa, unite the right, or even blm, they can just fuck off and die.
Re: Is Tom Cruise the Greatest Movie Star of All Time?
None. You bring up white guilt when you exorcise it through your incessant whining about white people and defending the actions of scum blacks on the left because they were oppressed in the 1800s. It's like you want to be friends with black people so bad or something. And unlike you, I extend the courtesy of addressing your giant wall of text.Headhunter wrote:How many times on this forum have you called yourself racist or brought up white guilt?Jason wrote:Boom. It's so funny when you're actually brave enough to go out on a limb and show everyone how little you know about history. That post is comedy gold.

When was the last time the alt-right called for somebody to be lynched? Or for somebody to be shot? I haven't heard it. Listening to Richard Spencer, Red Ice, and all the other identitarian groups and none of them ever said anything to indicate they are anywhere near violent or psychotic. They are nothing like the 50's Klan or something that everyone is trying to label them as. Let me ask you this, If 5 or 600 BLM people showed up on a campus with Tiki torches and chanted "Black power! Black Power! You will not replace us! The government is abusing us!", would the ADL have come out and called it a hate rally or would they have called it a love fest and said there was nothing wrong with it? The latter answer is the correct answer.zombie wrote:what is the central issue that isn't being addressed?Jason wrote:I support them both until people start killing in the name. BLM. Antifa. The general consensus opinion within academia, celebrity circles, hollywood, the media, etc... is that "whites are incapable of being oppressed, they're the oppressors. Therefore, their words don't matter. If a group of white people get together to say they feel oppressed, we can just ignore them". Now they're no longer ignoring them. Now they've gone to the next stage which is insulting them and saying "These are all rabid violent people. A small group, but still worrying enough that we're gonna need to pass more censorship laws" or some bull shit.
Groups of white identitarians and black nationalists are identifying almost the same central problem, which is the government and all these money groups are abusing them. The truth is, everyone is being abused. These particular groups are just fixated on the racial animas component of that abuse while other groups focus on separate components such as people in lower economic classes being abused by big government spending and taxation, etc... All of this is the same central problem, but in this instance it is disguised as a race issue that so many dinks are buying into.

How many white men, white women, white police officers were killed in the name of BLM and it was not addressed? They're either saying "If we ignore it, it will go away" or they secretly enjoy that happening and pretend they don't see it. That blood is on their hands.

So I guess the Trump administration's rhetoric alone makes them liable for Charlottesville since an association with members of the group doesn't matter, just that they emboldened their views.. Huh. Slippery slope.

so, onto the other points... i can't speak for the media or hollywood or news media.. but i do think there has been an effort made to amp tensions and divide people. there is still racism along with that. i don't know why you want to shrug that off. but i don't share your view. i don't want to see oppression under any guise. i've called it out from liberals. i've called it out from conservatives. and feminists and supposed blm-ers. i'll continue to do that, where i see it. i don't like pretending to be helpful or understanding and caring, but actually pushing for some kind of divisiveness or for some kind of oppression. (whether intentional or not) so yeah.zombie wrote:there is some attempt being made to oppress caucasians or to make them feel guilty for being caucasian. it's not institutional. (though some institutions partake) but it is there. it does happen. i don't think it should be ignored or downplayed. it needs to be put into the open, as much as oppression toward any other group.

B. Even if they weren't, they marched with them and didn't stand up to them. So they abet them and deserve scorn too.
C. Every person involved in this ordeal from a white supremacist perspective should kill themselves tonight.
Meanwhile, most of the people who go to BLM rallies are just good, regular people whose politics you disagree with. They have their bad apples who try to push the envelope. That's the danger of these big social uprisings. But for the most part, good people.

He wanted to bring the country back together after the war and treat it as a truly united country, not a south vs north indefinitely. He would be appalled at the idea of the statue even existing. It does nothing but cause divisiveness and remind people of the hatred, which was exactly what he didn't want to happen post-war.
These attempts to cleanse history are disturbing. We build monuments to be lasting reminders for good reason. Tearing them down is the act of a foreign invasion. "Forget how you got here and those that made the sacrifices in the past, we are your new heroes. Have a cookie."
If I walk into a a black community and start a process to take down a Martin Luther King statue, is the statue the problem?
If Martin Luther King objected to his likeness being cast in a statue to commemorate the trying times they went through rather than the victories they had, I would be against it as well.
Benedict Arnold wanted fame from his military command, seeking that out led him to be a traitor and the only statue in America commemorating him is one modeled after his boot (where the battle that damaged his leg and started the clusterfuck that was his betrayal to the US Army) as a giant fuck you for being a traitor to the US while still acknowledging his role in that particular battle was paramount to the US winning the war. It doesn't name him, it only alludes to him. That is how you commemorate the achievements of a traitor who was an incredible soldier.
The bigger rub?
There's also a monument for the Battle of Saratoga that depicts three generals from that battle, with an empty niche where Arnold's statue should be.
You don't commemorate traitors to the US government and Lee was one of the loudest proponents of that. Lee refused to be buried in his Confederate uniform because he saw it as divisive and contrary to the outcome of the war. He didn't want a military funeral, soldiers who came were not allowed to wear their confederate uniform, no flags were placed on his casket. That was all at his request and his wife saw to it. He didn't want to propagate the division between the states and he saw those items as relics that did just that.
If anything, flying that flag and commemorating him in confederate uniform is a huge slap in the face to him and what he wanted. It is not honoring him in any way. If anything he would likely see it as an act of desecration to put a confederate flag on his grave.

Re: Is Tom Cruise the Greatest Movie Star of All Time?
That's the biggest mystery to me in all this. I don't find it in any way appropriate for the United States to honor or pay tribute to people who fought against them in war (with the possible exception of Native American leaders). Forget the racial context that drives 99% of the narrative here, that need not even apply. What is patriotic in an American sense about honoring the Confederacy?
