The Celtics got the #2 pick in the 1986 draft after they won the title with arguably the greatest team the league had ever seen by trading a guy who averaged less than 10 points per game in his career.

This is how super teams used to be formed. Taking advantage of stupid front offices. I don't see what the difference is.

That is not the era I'm talking about. Jordan's first run did come at the tail end of that "golden era" but his second three-peat came in a down period for the league. I'm talking about the Magic Johnson-Larry Bird era where those teams' benches probably could have formed NBA playoff teams. There wasn't even a salary cap to stop the good teams from totally stacking their rosters. In that sense, it was even worse than today. Not just super teams, super deep teams. The cap presents more interesting challenges where you can choose to pair 1 star with a great roster, pair 2 stars with a decent roster, or 3 stars with nothing but role players.

The only reason Golden State was able to create what they have now is getting Steph on a "prove-it" deal after a series of ankle injuries early in his career before he really broke out and signing Klay and Draymond right before the cap spiked more than 40% a couple years ago. They got lucky and are an aberration.

You do understand that your idea made no sense, right? You can't "trap" an off-the-ball, catch-and-shoot player, and if you did "trap" Klay (it wouldn't be a trap, just a really pointless double team), the Warriors would either have a layup or open three on every single possession. Your idea would just take two defenders out of every play. It would be hilarious to watch.

The Cavs did exactly what they should have done. It just doesn't matter anymore because adding KD gave them another player who can create his own shot and he's the biggest matchup nightmare in the league. You have to trap Steph though, because he's the centerpiece of Kerr's offensive system. If you let him play his game, the Warriors can do whatever they want.

Some people claiming insider information are predicting LeBron to Denver. They're saying it's a lock that he is at least going to talk with Tim Connelly. He's saying Jokic is a big draw to LeBron because he's a big center who can protect the rim, hit free throws and shoot the ball. The only issue is it's gonna likely have to be a sign and trade to get him there. Either Harris or Murray have to go, which would be a shame. But if it means getting the God King of the sport of basketball, I'm all in.

I also don’t see how that’s what LEBRON wants as if he just wanted a tall rim Protector that would notat all help him beat GS. They aren’t famous for their dunking ability.

Right. Even beyond GS, just how the league is going, you need bigs who can switch on to guards and wings defensively. Hell, KD is built like a toothpick and he's become one of the best rim protectors in the league. It's just a different landscape now.
