A glorious mess that pays itself off in two all time great set pieces. Even for this franchise, the plot machinations are laughable. The call backs to the rest of the series are completely unnecessary. It’s the most flawed in the franchise since #2, but again, those two set pieces are worth the price of admission.
I believe watching all of these so recently made this last one more enjoyable for me
Once he’s jumping into the ocean, it’s a terrific movie for thrills alone. The first 40% of the movie everything just feels off and there are some egregious choices from a character + writing perspective.

It's something I often see in planned franchise end films. Trying to connect too many threads and tie too many loose ends. I've seen people say the first hour was boring but I was never bored. And as you said the thrills were on par with some of the best of the series
