When I saw Arnold throwing around people or Van Damme knocking people out, it certainly looked a whole lot more believable than 110 pound girls punching out multiple mercenaries. Not sure why that is rarely addressed.

I just love that any kid who grew up loving Rocky Horror, now will be shunned at wanting to play Dr. Frank because he's not transgender enough. So progressive.

what movies are you talking about specifically where it doesn't look believable to you? or at least name actresses that don't, so i have a better idea about your gripe? i can't recall a girl going hand to hand in a fight the way that arnie would or van damme would. but you can remind me, if you do.

it was seen as destroying what we love and turning it into a girl, essentially. which is more or less the same gripe being used against star wars too. so yeah. it comes from both political spectrums, so you put that to rest.
Speaking of Star Wars, has Harrison Ford ever been in a movie where he did not sexually assault a woman by today's standards? How many women told him "No." and yet he proceeded to flirt or even hold or kiss them?

Yeah, there is a general feminist agenda at play. ScarJo was just pressured to not play a tranny in a movie because the "fans", wanted a real tranny.
Good God, I just read that ScarJo crap and wanted to post something. Unbelievable. This generation and liberals want everyone to be pigeon-holed, actors and artists can't possibly go out of their realm? They don't even realize how stupid and damaging shit like that is to their own cause.
I saw no protests when the Ant Man and the Wasp villain was gender swapped to be a woman. It only goes one way, too.
bullshit, it only goes one way. tell kathleen keenedy that it only goes one way. :P
Clue me in to who that is and I will!
she's the studio head for lucasfilm and star wars. she gets crapped on all the time for having female lead characters in a galaxy far far away.
I don't have an issue with a female lead jedi. Especially since being a jedi is not about physical strength.

Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde, Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow (although that was a piece of crap in which she was more of a whore).

you saw charlize theron as being van damme or arnie like in atomic blonde? we watched different movies. she was really struggling in most of the fights. she managed, but not at all like arnie or van damme manage or not even the way keanu reeves as john wick manages.

and red sparrow was a terrible movie. :P

Angelina Jolie, ScarJo, Charlize Theron, Charlies Angels, Kick Ass, etc.

Nobody in those movies could punch through wet toilet paper.

The point being, their necks would have broken like a wounded chicken in seconds. Yet, they get a whole movie or any screen time to non-sense.

i can't recall them fighting the way van damme or arnie do. but if you just don't want to see them fight at all. fair. movie watching is still a choice. it's not mandatory. it's not forced onto you.

It's a sad thing to see, but this is where we're at in society now. Nothing we can do about it but let these people be miserable.
if they were just being miserable, that's alright. so be it. but they want everyone else to be miserable with them.
You just have to ignore these people for the most part. Nothing makes them happy. Ever. So all they can do is drag everyone down with them. I don't give a shit what message or themes a movie is trying to convey if it's well-made. Things are better that way.
The West Wing is over, Star Trek: TNG is subvert, Larry David is a socialist, etc. I love all those shows.

Not much right wing stuff is worth watching, tbh.
Post-Vietnam through the early 1990s there were a lot of movies pushing more conservative ideas and I appreciated that. It had its place and we got a lot of great movies (especially action movies) out of the era.

But in all honesty, in a general sense right wing ideology just doesn't translate thematically to movies. There's nothing exciting about slashing taxes, social norms being upheld or corporations winning power struggles.

guys get away with doing things onscreen that would absolutely break them. and it can be done several times in one movie. but don't let the girls do that too, in their own way. stay in your lane, dammit!

And even good vs. evil doesn't really work within politics, as Clint's latest of the France train shit proved. I'm with you Headward, we need another Rocky IV

Do you see many realistic scenarios where those chicks are kicking the asses of multiple athletic men?

Especially those close quarters fights where the woman basically initiates a grapple. They would get spiked on the ground or jammed into a wall and it would be over in two seconds.

in real life they would absolutely get owned in a serious fight. that should be the standard for how roles are chosen. if you can't do it in real life, just get out of here. don't even bother auditioning.

and i don't like it when they do it either. i think scarjo would have been good in the role. but if you see her play black widow again, you're likely to rage?
