When I saw Arnold throwing around people or Van Damme knocking people out, it certainly looked a whole lot more believable than 110 pound girls punching out multiple mercenaries. Not sure why that is rarely addressed.

I just love that any kid who grew up loving Rocky Horror, now will be shunned at wanting to play Dr. Frank because he's not transgender enough. So progressive.

Re: 07-14-2018
what movies are you talking about specifically where it doesn't look believable to you? or at least name actresses that don't, so i have a better idea about your gripe? i can't recall a girl going hand to hand in a fight the way that arnie would or van damme would. but you can remind me, if you do.Foo wrote:When I saw Arnold throwing around people or Van Damme knocking people out, it certainly looked a whole lot more believable than 110 pound girls punching out multiple mercenaries. I don't have an issue with a female lead jedi. it was seen as destroying what we love and turning it into a girl, essentially. which is more or less the same gripe being used against star wars too. so yeah. it comes from both political spectrums, so you put that to rest.
Yeah, there is a general feminist agenda at play. ScarJo was just pressured to not play a tranny in a movie because the "fans", wanted a real tranny.

Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde, Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow (although that was a piece of crap in which she was more of a whore).zombie wrote:what movies are you talking about specifically where it doesn't look believable to you? or at least name actresses that don't, so i have a better idea about your gripe? i can't recall a girl going hand to hand in a fight the way that arnie would or van damme would. but you can remind me, if you do.Foo wrote:When I saw Arnold throwing around people or Van Damme knocking people out, it certainly looked a whole lot more believable than 110 pound girls punching out multiple mercenaries. you saw charlize theron as being van damme or arnie like in atomic blonde? we watched different movies. she was really struggling in most of the fights. she managed, but not at all like arnie or van damme manage or not even the way keanu reeves as john wick manages.Reign in Blood wrote:Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde, Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow (although that was a piece of crap in which she was more of a whore).zombie wrote:what movies are you talking about specifically where it doesn't look believable to you? or at least name actresses that don't, so i have a better idea about your gripe? i can't recall a girl going hand to hand in a fight the way that arnie would or van damme would. but you can remind me, if you do.Foo wrote:When I saw Arnold throwing around people or Van Damme knocking people out, it certainly looked a whole lot more believable than 110 pound girls punching out multiple mercenaries. It's a sad thing to see, but this is where we're at in society now. Nothing we can do about it but let these people be miserable.
Not much right wing stuff is worth watching, tbh.
But in all honesty, in a general sense right wing ideology just doesn't translate thematically to movies. There's nothing exciting about slashing taxes, social norms being upheld or corporations winning power struggles.

guys get away with doing things onscreen that would absolutely break them. and it can be done several times in one movie. but don't let the girls do that too, in their own way. stay in your lane, dammit!Reign in Blood wrote:The point being, their necks would have broken like a wounded chicken in seconds. And even good vs. evil doesn't really work within politics, as Clint's latest of the France train shit proved. Especially those close quarters fights where the woman basically initiates a grapple. They would get spiked on the ground or jammed into a wall and it would be over in two seconds.

in real life they would absolutely get owned in a serious fight. that should be the standard for how roles are chosen. if you can't do it in real life, just get out of here. don't even bother auditioning.Foo wrote: Do you see many realistic scenarios where those chicks are kicking the asses of multiple athletic men?
