If they were taking them only as prescribed, there would not be such a black market. Why pretend that is even the case? They are drug abusers. If not that it would be something else.Jmac Attack wrote:One Percocet 30mg, goes for $30 a pill around here. Balloon of heroin....$10. This town is littered full of addicts. All of South Central and Southern Ohio is some of the worst in the country. Problem is, opiates are highly addictive. Doctors prescribe them, and most take them as prescribed. It doesn't take long to get hooked, even taking their scheduled doses. Next thing ya know, you have an addict and people act like they are scrum. Can't afford rehab, etc. I live around these people. All they do is send them of to jail or prison. Ya know, to teach them a lesson.Headhunter wrote:When people couldn't get their Oxys refilled anymore, all it did was revitalize the market for heroin all over the country. It's completely out of control.Tiggnutz wrote:Prescription drug abuse is out of control. It would seem like something easy to get control of but doctors and pharmaceutical companies are just continuing to pump that poison out as much as possible.
Quit blaming the doctors. I would bet anything they are hard partiers and were or would be addicts to other substances.Jmac Attack wrote:And to anyone that thinks all addicts should just die and good riddance, needs to eat a bag/bags of dicks. I have a couple of people that are like family, get hooked on opiates because of Drs prescribing them, become a full blown addict....only to come out of it through hard work. My singer in Sever for example.....had a back injury (still has issues with it), and now he has a huge house on Lake Michigan.....a kick pass boat, and a successful painting business. If only he would have died while being addicted.......that's just fucking stupid to me.
I am not doing that. There are checks and balances in life, and one of those are representing our own best interests.Jmac Attack wrote:Foo, take 5mg of any opiate 3x a day for 6 months, then let me know how you are feeling. Stop giving doctors a pass.
People find excuses to abuse. Very rare is the prescription drug addict who is not also over indulging in alcohol, weed, or both, gidven the opportunity.Jmac Attack wrote:And I did the same as you when prescribed Vicoden for 2nd degree burns. Took two, and threw the rest away. But, I am not gonna clap for myself for doing the same thing you did. If I had chronic back pain, then maybe I would have taken all of those pills. I cant say I would not. As I am not above those who need them.
Don't take the pills. Quit blaming the doctors. We have free will.Jmac Attack wrote:My good old conservative Catholic town is littered with opiate abusers. Sure, those who are addicted deserve some of the blame, but there are doctors who only see dollar signs. The patient listens to their doctor, takes them as prescribed, gets hooked, and you wanna put all the blame on them. That's bullshit. It could happen to you, even with your wealth of knowledge regarding medicine. That's just how I feel about that.

And I do not believe for a second that the majority of addicts continue to take them as prescribed. They are taking too many, mixing them with alcohol and weed, etc.
We have lost all concept of abuse. Abuse is taking an Louis daily for chronic pain. Abuse is getting drunk regularly. Abuse is using despite the consequences.
I know people who go to a bar and get intoxicated once per week. They think that is not abuse because in their social circle getting drunk a few times per month is normal. It is abuse.

Sure. What we eat is just as important. I would not blame food companies for my weight fluctuations, however. Nor would I expect society to pay for the consequences of anyone's good choices.DAEBO wrote:Eating too. Table salt kills more than anything.Foo wrote:Don't take the pills. Quit blaming the doctors. I said earlier that I agree, I just don't think it is so black and white as he does, is all. According to him, people cant ever make mistakes. He doesn't realize how addicting opiates are and people trust their doctors. But, yeah, they probably overeat or abuse alcohol anyway according to him. So.....die and good riddance.
