Re: MMA
Thoughts on White burying Woodley after a win, in which he stuffed a submission specialist 20+ times?

Re: MMA
Not sure what White said, but Woodley almost certainly deserved it. That's just it, he is a submission specialist, not a wrestler. He attempted over 20 times to take down the wrestler/striker but to no avail. Yet, the striker did nothing after stuffing the takedowns but back away. Maia through about as many strikes as Woodley. Maia was the one doing the work.
Inb4 Woodley calls Dana racist.

Re: MMA
White basically just said Woodley is weak sauce, doesn't want to fight, and gave the GSP fight back to Bisping.
Now I get calling it boring, and that he is Mayweathering it etc. But a win is a win and stuffing every submission from a specialist is commendable. I can see saying you were let down or summat, but to dog him and then take away a big money fight, damn.

Re: MMA
Well, Woodley wasn't stuffing submissions, he was stuffing takedowns. And that is the thing about Maia. He is the greatest jiu jitsu practitioner the UFC has ever seen (which is saying A LOT), but he has below average wrestling. Woodley is an actual wrestler, which is why he was stuffing the takedowns so easy. He had 25 minutes to pull the trigger on a guy with very poor wrestling and absolutely horrendous striking, and he didn't. He was terrified of getting to close or off balance, because he knew he would get submitted. I also love before the fight when he said something like "I'm a brown belt. Even if he gets me to the ground, I ain't easy to submit". Then had the AUDACITY to say at the weigh-in, "I'm the best welterweight of all time, and I'm gonna start acting like it". lolWoodley.Reign in Blood wrote:White basically just said Woodley is weak sauce, doesn't want to fight, and gave the GSP fight back to Bisping.

Plenty of motherfuckers fight conservatively for fear of a wrong move into the other guys' strength and don't get buried for it.Jason wrote:Well, Woodley wasn't stuffing submissions, he was stuffing takedowns. Now don't get me wrong, from a business standpoint, I get it, GSP isn't one of the most electrifying fighters either, so in his old age and long trip back, White doesn't want to put on a bore-fest with Woodley perse. Woodley still decisively won.

Tbh, they should let all fighters, football players, baseball players juice. The invisible hand of morality should not even be in play.

so long as you pit them against other juicers. i don't see it as morality, so much as unfair advantage.Headhunter wrote:Tbh, they should let all fighters, football players, baseball players juice. The invisible hand of morality should not even be in play.

Well, the point is everyone would have the opportunity to. Obviously it would be career suicide for those who don't but they have the choice. Right now you still have juicers fighting non-juicers, we just don't know it.zombie wrote:so long as you pit them against other juicers. i don't see it as morality, so much as unfair advantage.Headhunter wrote:Tbh, they should let all fighters, football players, baseball players juice. well, yeah. you can cheat and get away with it. that doesn't mean that however you're cheating should become an accepted part of the sport. if everyone was juicing, or had the choice to, i guess it would make things different.Headhunter wrote:Well, the point is everyone would have the opportunity to.
