I am so FUCKING happy Roger Deakins won Best Cinematography for Bladerunner 2049.
Yeah, but it sucks they forgot Tobe Hooper.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Eddie Vedder singing Petty's Room At The Top for the In Memoriam.
Good. George A Romero got recognized.
They can't squeeze in everybody, unfortunately. Does suck though, I mean they had the guy that had like two appearances on Married with Children, but not Tobe.Havok wrote:Yeah, but it sucks they forgot Tobe Hooper.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Eddie Vedder singing Petty's Room At The Top for the In Memoriam.

I still have hope for 3 Billboards, but since it lost screenplay, I don't think it's taking picture. Martin wasn't even nominated for director. So it's probably going to be Get Out or Shape of Water.Havok wrote:Fuck yeah Del Toro!
Now I have the feeling Three Billboards will take best picture. Hopefully not, but that's usually the way these things work.
Create your own HMF oscars and nominate your own! Your opinion is at minimum as valid as the phony weirdos behind the voting desk.Havok wrote:Yeah, but it sucks they forgot Tobe Hooper.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Eddie Vedder singing Petty's Room At The Top for the In Memoriam.

mystery is more of a 70s horror thing, to be honest.Jason wrote:I love the silent killer approach in 80s horror. Mystery is the key to excellence.
I feel like 1981 was kind of the barrier for that. A lot of serious horror in 1981. Started seeing more comedic approach in horror little-by-little after that.zombie wrote:mystery is more of a 70s horror thing, to be honest.Jason wrote:I love the silent killer approach in 80s horror. i can see that, to an extent.Jason wrote:I feel like 1981 was kind of the barrier for that. A lot of serious horror in 1981. Mystery, as in you don't know diddily poo about him.zombie wrote:also, there is no mystery about the killer in the burning. you know right away...
okay. yeah, they don't really give him a backstory beyond the tragedy. there is that.Jason wrote:Mystery, as in you don't know diddily poo about him.zombie wrote:also, there is no mystery about the killer in the burning. you know right away...
There is still mystery in modern horror, too, though. 90s horror, 2000s horror. I just think the 80s completely aced it. Especially in the slasher aspect. There was always a kind of mystery behind Jason, Michael. Even though we saw them 11 times in the 80s.
