Lol I remember when Fooskey told me there was no need to look into 80% of the 9/11 hijackers being Saudis because Saudi Arabia has its own established security state. Too bad that security state was too busy doing 9/11 to investigate 9/11.

So cool that Israel and Saudi Arabia can just murder American journalists and this country is too cucked to do anything in response and will just send them more shit to kill innocent people with. Who needs enemies when these are your friends in the world. Two genuinely evil countries.

It's part of the charm. I've not always been the best at expressing my socialist, pro-third party views, but I tried to argue with heart.

This is what folks in my state are going towards. This bat shit crazy Qanon nonsense. It's why we moved outta small town Ohio and into Columbus, Ohio. I fucking told everyone that this was gonna happen. LOL. And now I cant go to the town I used to live in without seeing Qanon or White Supremacist bullshit. Every. Fucking. Time. Which is one to two times a week for band practice. Which, some folks on that city council are admitted in those Proud Boy type groups or are married to them. Oh....and they are infiltrating the police force down there, and have been. What a fucking time to alive and to be an American..yay..

Re: Random Political Comments
Yep. Trump is atrocious. Shame Democrats are see ineffectual that they haven't wiped Republicans out yet. Makes sense, though, given Democrats are giving money to far-right Republicans and supporting them in their respective primaries. Democrats would rather a far-right person an office than an actual leftist (by which I mean anti-capitalist).
If Democrats were truly a leftist party, the Republicans wouldn't stand a chance on the national level whatsoever. And the more I think about it, the more I am convinced that had Sanders been the nominee in 2016, he would have defeated Trump.

It’s very interesting how this is getting almost no media coverage. If Republicans don't wise up and distance themselves from the disease that is Donald Trump they will never stop losing important elections. Also the vast majority of citizens believe in and support abortion rights so move out of the stone age and catch up to present day.

The abortion thing is a good example of how it can be more beneficial to pursue a goal in politics than to actually reach it. They were a dog chasing cars for 50 years on this issue and after finally doing the thing, it’s killing them.

Re: Random Political Comments
Looking forward to election day. If RFK Jr. sticks it out and gets even moderate ballot access, he could see decent results (10-20% in some states), which would at least make the election interesting.
Been watching both the Republican and Democratic primaries with interest. Amusing that both parties are so gung-ho on such atrocious candidates, but that's what I expect from the both of them.
Four third parties have already chosen their presidential nominees - the American Solidarity Party [Peter Sonski], Prohibition Party [Michael Wood], Party for Socialism and Liberation [Claudia De la Cruz], and Socialist Party USA [Bill Stodden] - so be sure you always know your options and who's on your ballot.
Didn't vote this year, on a side-note. There was only a single contested race on my ballot - mayor of Columbia City - and the Democrat's campaign was laughably awful (non-existent may be a better term) - and so I had no reason to vote. A Libertarian ran for city council, though, and got 28% (which is 4% higher than the Democratic mayoral candidate got), which I found encouraging.
Also have a lot to say about 2024's Indiana races - gubernatorial, senate, and house races - but I'll pace myself.
Glad to be talking politics again. Let's do this!

Re: Random Political Comments
Maryland's ballot access is historically somewhat weak.
On average, if you look at the candidates who made the ballot from 2000 - 2020, discounting the GOP and Democratic nominees, you have 3.17 candidates. Write-ins look decent - Evan McMullin managed 0.35% of the state-wide total in 2016 with just write-ins - but generally, at least in recent times, the only ones who really make the ballot are the Libertarians and Greens, and God knows who those parties will nominate (the on-going Libertarian primary is off the chain-hook, as the kids say).
And showing my work here insofar as the candidates on Maryland's ballot 2000 through 2020:
2000 - 4 [Ralph Nader, Harry Browne, Patrick Buchanan, Howard Phillips]
2004 - 4 [Ralph Nader, Michael Badnarik, David Cobb, Michael Peroutka]
2008 - 4 [Ralph Nader, Bob Barr, Cynthia McKinney, Chuck Baldwin]
2012 - 2 [Gary Johnson, Jill Stein]
2016 - 2 [Gary Johnson, Jill Stein]
2020 - 3 [Jo Jorgensen, Howie Hawkins, Jerry Segal]

RFK Jr. continues to poll very well. He is carving out an interesting coalition from both the right, center and left. In the end I’m not sure he steals more votes from either party. I’d be curious where his numbers go if he stopped going on about the vaccine stuff.

Re: Random Political Comments
Maybe he doesn't "steal" from any party, but brings out people who otherwise wouldn't have voted at all. Given that Biden and Trump are among some of the most unpopular nominees (assuming, of course, they become the nominees), that seems more likely to me.
Personally speaking, I don't care for him whatsoever, but I do hope that he gets ballot access in every state, so those who are attracted to his platform have the opportunity to support him.

If he stopped criticizing vaccine and big pharma he'd definitely take more votes from the left. If he stopped going on about the the climate and pollution he'd take more votes from the right.Headhunter wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 6:17 pm RFK Jr. continues to poll very well. I think there are the partisan voters who just vote red or blue, the independent voters who just absolutely refuse to vote for either party, and then the voters who just want somebody who seems trustworthy. I'm definitely the latter, and I've obviously put a lot of trust in Trump and still do, but RFK Jr somehow being president in 2024 would still sit quite well with me despite a few grievances I have with him on certain issues. I have grievances with Trump on issues too, though, but watching him make the evil establishment squirm tells me that he very likely is in it to deliver as many blows to them as he can. A good reformer.
A Trump-RFK ticket would he insane. Lol
