This movie is slow as shit. Somebody TALK TO ME so I don't fall asleep!
I guess it wasn't bad. Ultimately disappointed though.

I wasn't disappointed but it did end up with a B grade down from my original B+

But it will get a rewatch at some point because I feel like I can understand the likability.

No. There's a Sir Mix A Lot reference in there somewhere.

It's on youtube.

Was going to start the morning with Deadly Games - had a nice Blu-ray rip video from YouTube prepared to go - but it's been privated, and now the only video up I see is the cut version (ten minutes less time). I don't really have the money to spend on a Blu-ray (especially for a movie I don't know if I'll care for), but might not have a choice if I want to get this one in.

Could rent it on Amazon Prime, I guess - they list the 1 hr 35 min running time - but I've had issues trusting Prime in the past.

Regardless, instead going with The Icebox Murders (1982).

Not sure, but here's some backstory on how it was found. https://bynwr.com/videos/the-nest-of-the-cuckoo-birds

Always interesting stuff to me, when a movie's lost and decades later, manages to survive.

Here's a quote from https://videowatchdogblog.blogspot.com/ ... iewed.html:

"Refn - reknowned Danish director of such films as THE NEON DEMON and DRIVE and the winner of a similar eBay auction that left him the owner of Andy Milligan's celluloid rarities and scraps - has now unveiled THE NEST OF THE CUCKOO BIRDS absolutely free - as the opening salvo of his forthcoming byNWR.com streaming site, which premiered last night in piggy-back fashion on the art film streaming site MUBI. Dale Berry's HOT THRILLS AND WARM CHILLS (1967), restored with materials from the Something Weird Video collection, will be premiering in a few days. Refn's channel will be premiering independently next February."

it's too bad that hot thrills and warm chills isn't a horror film too. :P

Yeah, it's definitely unique. The beginning made it seem like we'd see him undercover with a bunch of moon-shiners, but we immediately skip all of that and go to him wandering through the swamps. Bizarre option. Had to have been a better way to set him in a swamp than that.

uh huh. it's kind of jarring. i think this could have been a cool little indie horror, if it was put together more coherently.
