Fair enough. It didn't bore me, but I won't be rewatching it, unlike the 90's version.

Also, just watched Stowaway. Decent, I guess. The ending is utterly trash, though, due to how predictable it is.

Went nostalgic and watched Aladdin (1992). Quality animation, though I was hoping the line "where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face" would remain intact, but no such luck.

Did they take it out? It's been an awful long time since I last watched it.

It's just replaced with another line "Where it’s flat and immense / And the heat is intense / It’s barbaric, but hey, it’s home."

It's whatever. I don't really think "barbaric" is a way I'd describe geography and weather, but I'm also quite picky. :P Also, this was apparently done a while back, so it's not like a new Disney+ change or anything.

Undergods. Dunno what this is. I mean, it's an anthology, but of what, I don't know. There's no structure, it's slow as fuck, and there's no resolution to anything. Hell, a girl in the film even says "this is a boring story". There are some slightly interesting bits, but nothing gets explored in any way, and it all focuses on the mundane shit. Only good thing I can think of is the visuals/esthetic.

The Scary House aka The Strange House aka The Creepy House. All bad names, but an ok movie. Family moves into a haunted house, dead kids possess living kids, but not your typical jump scare ghost film. More of a mystery than a horror film, honestly, as it's all about solving the murders. I think it was intended for a younger audience, but it wasn't bad overall.

Wonder Woman 84 ....................... C+

Definitely, not a dud like it was hyped up to be, but definitely could've been a lot better. Other than using it for a style playground, there was absolutely no reason it needed to take place in 1984. Cheetah was wasted (though the real bodysuit looked cool, shame about the blurry CGI action, real shame). Once the plot actually started to come in (over an hour into the movie) I was more invested, especially the monkey-paw angle. Would've liked to have seen more of Barbara's humanity descent. All performances were good. Best thing about the movie: Hans Zimmer's stellar score.

I will see your C+ and raise to a B. For eye candy. (or Boobs/Booty- if you nasty)

I can forgive plot holes but these were so heinous and numerous that it overwhelmed me. Horrible film

In the Earth. Crazy people want to talk to trees and will kill to do so. Not as good as it sounds. It's a bit more thriller than anything, because you don't know what the fuck is going on, but it was made out to be a horror in the ads I saw. The first half isn't bad, but then the "I'm on shrooms" visuals start up and it just gets annoying real quick. The ending is ass, though there is one funny death scene. Only watch if you're into weird hippy stoner bullshit "art". Or just skip to the 1:36 mark to see the funny death and stop it after that.

The Djinn. Mute kid wishes he had a voice, djinn comes and tries to kill him. Plays heavily into the fable side of things, trying to have a moral and all that. Still, it's decent enough.

Been on a bit of a movie spree in recent times, a lot of it trying to get caught up in the MCU.

Watched Iron Man (still solid, though not fantastic), Avengers: Age of Ultron (generally I feel this is around average), Avengers: Infinity War (probably one of the better MCU movies), Ant-Man and the Wasp (first-time watch; decently solid and fun), and Captain Marvel (first-time watch; sort of surprised me, but I found this a pretty good ride).

Also took some time to watch National Treasure (I'd call it a guilty pleasure, but I don't feel any guilt - it's a fun movie) and Beverly Hills Cop (a movie I enjoy watching every now and again).

A Quiet Place II

Very good follow-up to the original. Krasinski is a fantastic suspense director and I now look forward to whatever else he has up his sleeves. The performances are great, could be one of Cillian Murphy's best, and I really enjoyed his character arc because for a while I wasn't sure where we were going with his character. Emily Blunt is damn good, but hard to follow up her performance in the first given what she had to work with there. The FX are better, as it should when a sequel gets more money to play with. There is a demise of a character I don't quite agree with, but that's pretty much just me nitpicking. The film also has one of the best pre-credits scenes I've seen in a long time. Not quite as good as the original, but a worthy sequel.

Grade: A

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

Entertaining with good performances, but I don't think the plot was as interesting as some of their other cases so I'm not sure why they went with this one. While I didn't really read up on this case ahead of time, a friend I went with was familiar and confirmed like part 2, it's got a lot of fiction padding it out lol. The bloated Cadaver is pretty cool, but it did feel like it was added to add something to jump to, because the pacing was getting a bit dry. Lord Denethor was the MVP of this flick, elevating it to being above average.

Grade: B-

I loved all the horror movie homages, so that elevated it for me.

I recently watched A Quiet Place 2 and The Conjuring 3. Loved them both. I read a review saying AQP 2 was better than the first. Not sure about that, I'll need to rewatch it, but it was at least as good. Having Thomas Shelby in the lead was a definite plus. Conjuring 3 was slower than the first two and not as enjoyable but by no means bad.
PS - bring on Top Gun 2

Spiral. It was ok, I guess. It was obvious who the killer was from the start, but even if you didn't get it then, there's a blatant giveaway well before the actual reveal. The biggest complaint I have is the absolutely ridiculous voice used for the recordings. Tobin Bell had a great voice for this shit, but the one used in this sounds like a kid going through puberty. I literally laughed when I first heard it, because I thought it was a joke. Chris Rock was surprisingly good in a mostly serious role, though he does crack some jokes, especially at the beginning.

Eat Wheaties

Depressed the hell out of me. It's a comedy about a guy whose life revolves around the fact that he sort of knew a celebrity in college. Funny at times but mostly seemed to be an argument in favor of euthanasia.

Basically a movie that says you will get treated like shit and lose everything if you're a nice guy, but will get it all back if you start suing people. Not sure what they were going for, but I think they missed the mark.
