It's Jason Voorhees's birthday, today. 72 years old.
Happy birthday to Jason Voorhees.

hard to believe the slasher movies are not getting to be 40 years old. When I was a kid, I would never consider watching a 40 year old movie. Wonder if we are seeing a last gasp or if they live on.
Is Dracula finally dead? Frankenstein? Obviously they leave a legacy and inspiration, but will we see a resurgence?

I could very easily see Hollywood remaking them.

Well yeah, but there has to be audience interest and since everything has to be a $200 million blockbuster, and these don't fit that mold, it might be tough. Would probably be AMC TV series at this point with recent Universal monster reboot failures.
Would have been awesome if instead of Van Helsing and Dracula Untold they made a $10 million budgeted movie in the Hammer style.

I am just really not a fan of the way horror is made in the modern day. I love the gritty, practical effects of the 80s and nothing is ever going to change that. I really enjoyed the first Insidious, It Follows. The IT remake was pretty damn solid for a modern made horror movie, but I appreciate it more than anything because of the draw it created. Now we're getting horror movies in May and June.
