Head hasn’t been on much so I figure why bother you hand-egg fans with a real football thread.

Re: World Cup 2018
So far though:
1. Hosts with the mosts
2. VAR is weirdly annoying. Not cool
3. Japan and Sweden had a great first game. This makes me happy
4. Fuck you Germany
5. Belgium oh Belgium, you guys came to play
6. Same old England but slightly less crap. Still not firing away.
7. Messi, they always call him a magician and he certainly has disappeared.
8. ICELAND! Hú!
9. Someone needs to tell the cameramen they’re alllowed to also film ugly birds.
10. Neymar you flopping dickbag

Re: World Cup 2018
I've talked about it in other sports threads and chats but the troglodytes have drowned it out tbh.
But I've been watching every game I can when I'm not working. Prague is a very international city so there's been a huge contingent of every country at the beer garden I watch games at. Been a blast.

Re: World Cup 2018
My takes:
1. Nice of Seb''s country to give Showtime the spark they needed to make a run. Looking at the bracket, there's a good chance they play Brazil in Round 1 and Belgium if they make it through that game. Sheesh.
2. Seb would be better equipped to answer this, but how many big games can Ronaldo dominate in and Messi disappear in before we start questioning who is really the best player in the world?
3. Belgium is so much fun.
4. Just a great tournament in general. Outside of Saudi Arabia, every team is competitive and a lot of flawed contenders.

Re: World Cup 2018
I was living in Italy when they made it to the finals in1994. It's something I will never forget. The whole day everyone was celebrating I mean everyone it was like New Years Eve in Time Square than about 5 minutes after they lost I didnt see a single Italian person it was so quiet it was eerie. All the americans stationed there were cheering hard for Italy and it sucked they lost in overtime but the Italians were devestated. I wish they would of won just so I could of seen the party I imagine it would of lasted days.

This. If Ronaldo has another good showing and wills them to the next round and Argentina gets bounced, people should be done with that debate.Headhunter wrote: 2. I must be missing a lot not watching La Liga games, because people tell me it's not even close, Messi's the best by far and it confuses the hell out of meReign in Blood wrote:This. Excited to see what kind of shenanigans the Russians cook up for their game vs. Spain.

They colluded with the refs to rig the game.

Re: World Cup 2018
I don't even give a fuck about that per se. Club play is a different beast where you can stack the best with each other given the money. World Cup is the biggest stage and Portugal ain't much without Ronaldo, Argentina still fields good shit despite Messi disappearing. Coming through in the big games will always matter. Though he didn't stand out today, Ronaldo is on and they'd have no shot if he didn't play out of his mind earlier, your move Messi.Headhunter wrote:I must be missing a lot not watching La Liga games, because people tell me it's not even close, Messi's the best by far and it confuses the hell out of meReign in Blood wrote:This. I think I prefer Messi. Just because he doesn't go to sleep in a tanning bed every night.

If you need to score a goal, Ronaldo clearly is the guy you want.Reign in Blood wrote:I don't even give a fuck about that per se. I got a buddy who is actually a die hard soccer fan. Watches the shit religiously like we do football, and I asked him the Ronaldo/Messi question during the last world cup and he said there are plenty of other players who are better than both of them but soccer just capitalizes on their popularity.
