My feeling is that I would welcome Puerto Rico but need to see perhaps a five-10 year period where they pay down their debt before admitting them. Sort of a probationary period with no bail out.

They've been a territory for a really long time, I think they're just broke.

Yup, which would be wrong. By that same token, Puerto Rico should not suddenly want statehood because they cannot live within their means.

we should wait before taking in another state til we can live within our means with what we have now.

Puerto Rican politicians highly suspect the voting was tampered with, too.
