They'd be more likely to try killing Trump than Putin. Peace time president is not good for business.
Welp. They just tried today. And failed.
Absolutely voting for him in November. Fuck the establishment.
very few people deserve to be shot/killed, including donald trump, especially if it turns out to be an attempt by a political rival but he has been establishment his whole adult life. and you were always going to vote for him in this election.

Correct about him being in the establishment. I was undecided whether I would vote or not until today. But to be clear, my stance was either "Trump if I feel like it". Nobody else would have gotten my vote.
As far as his establishment involvement, the fact that he is open about being involved with the elites and exposing the things that go on in it isn't even what made me a fan. Seeing the establishment openly outing themselves and doing everything they can in all facets of media and politics to destroy him only made him a stronger candidate for me.

How do you let a sniper get a clean line of sight from a rooftop on a former president and current nominee at a rally? Heads need to roll!
All I can really think about at this point is the innocent person who was killed. Biden or Trump supporter, it makes me sad.

It should of never happened. I'm more angry than anything else right now. I would feel the same way if it had been Biden up there and this happened.

Yeah man. Nobody, not even a politician, should have to live in fear of going outside. But politics is crazy, whether it was a lone nut or an establishment attempt at the assassination, people will be passionate enough to kill and ready to die for it.

he played that outsider shit up. he's not an outsider. he's establishment as much as anyone else. but he probably just won the election if he stays in it. and any legal issues he's facing or recent info in the press (that was barely being covered, mind you) is all shut out now cause no one will talk about anything else but this from now until the election. this did nothing but benefit donald trump. it fucking sucks that an innocent guy got shot and killed in the process of a stupid political game.

I mean, he's clearly an outsider now. He was revered for decades by so many of the elites and once he ran as a Reagan-esque reformer they completely abandoned him. Or he abandoned them. Whether or not his plans as president is for the good of the U.S. or egotistical revenge against the corruption is pretty much irrelevant since the result would be the same. He does a lot of wonderful things that the media ignores and it just makes me a bigger fan every time these incidents occur.
"This did nothing but benefit Trump". Well, yeah, because they missed.

Nobody is as cool as Clint and I doubt he's Jesus. But yeah.
I tend to avoid politics and am gonna stay outta this after this post because I don't want to hear the "my side vs your side" nonsense. Everyone saying "they tried to take him out". Who are they? The shooter, Thomas Mathew Crooks, is a 20 year old registered republican. So a dumb kid. Not the "dems", not the "deep state", just some dumbass kid and a republican at that. Why? He's dead, so who cares? All I know is that this is just gonna lead to tons of conspiracy theories, violence, and idiots spouting false narratives. Politics is bullshit.

You don't want to hear the "my side vs your side" nonsense but you're making a case for it by highlighting that he was registered to one side.
A registered republican who mysteriously donated to actblue also doesn't make sense. It's good to ask questions.
And yeah, it'll lead to conspiracy theories (who knows which is true?), probable violence unfortunately and false narratives.
The problem with the narratives is the majority of people (on both sides) are not pursuing truth but rather pursuing the theory or narrative that fits their own personal purview.
The media propping up Trump as the devil or the reincarnation of Hitler for the last 8 years is certainly reckless and doesn't help to prevent an assassination attempt like this.
For fuck's sake. Thanks for proving my point. I said he was a republican in response to the "it was the dems" nonsense. Plenty of republicans don't like Trump and have said they are voting for Biden. Democrats are calling it staged, republicans are comparing the guy's ears to say it's someone else. You're not a detective. Everyone's just all up in their emotions instead of using logic. This is why I stay outta this shit, there's no talking sense to anyone on either side. End of the day, don't shoot people. Period.

"Dont shoot people" works for me. The deeper you follow the rabbit hole of politics, the more bread crumbs you find on the trail of corruption. Problem is no matter where the bread crumbs take you, you're always gonna be in the dark and never know the answers. We've been conditioned to fully have an opinion on it and the more of a hard line stance you have, the better. Problem with all that is now you can't see the forest for the trees and you become a prisoner of your own device and aren't open to possibilities that differ from what you want to believe.
It's very possible the guy was a lone nut and overly emotional 20 year old kid. It's very possible the establishment quietly have a pawn or two waiting in the wings at their chance to be known by the world and die for something they believe in so they send him out to do their dirty work. It's all speculation, it's all opinion. As long as you're in the pursuit of truth then that's what's important.
I would guess a loner loser trying to become an internet hero. Need to stop with the everything is Hitler Nazi shit. No person getting elected is going to end the world or destroy the country so stop with that shit too. We went from a reality TV star to an actual vegetable and the world didn't end. Also stop anyone and everyone from destroying shit when they are unhappy, it can never be justified and acceptable and leads to worse things.
can we stop pretending the media is only the part of it that doesn't like trump or the republicans.
tucker carlson gets more viewers than anyone else on tv, reportedly. joe rogan is the most watched podcast on the planet, reportedly. elon musk is near the richest man in the world and he owns his own megaphone soapbox echo chamber, then we've got crowder, prager, shapiro, pool, rubin etc. kid rock yells about stay away from our kids while he fires a machine gun into a bunch of beer cans. jk rowling is calling for the heads of all transpeople. but none of them are ever the media...
Like Slaughter I am not going to say much here but... Shit like this is why I hate Politics and Religion. All they do is cause division between peoples, resulting in tribalistic mindsets that inevitably evolves into conflict and violence. This is why I am not Republican or Democrat and an Atheist.
That being said, this is very upsetting and should not have happened. But as Tigg pointed out above we are living in this era of hyperbolic rhetoric and extremism. It's unhealthy and will only lead to more violence if we don't figure out a way to tone it down. I neither like nor dislike Former President Trump and I am glad he is ok. However, people like him, Margorie Green, AOC & her so called "Squad" and so many others who give into to hyperbolic extremes are part of this problem. This is all just my opinion.
I do believe that we as a people in this country have more in common than we do differences. It's a shame some many don't see that.
