After the challenge, maybe we should do/compile the HMF Top 100 Horror Flicks list again. Definitely be more skewed because of smaller sample size, but fuck it.

I like that idea.

How do you determine the top 100?

Good question. Is this just a general Top 100 list or are we dividing it into subgenres? i.e. Slasher, Supernatural, Monster Flicks, etc. ?

You could have everyone make their own list than use that information to make one list

Correct. We all do a top 25, and then it's a weighted list. Your #1 film receives 25 points, #2 receives 24 points and so on, add it all up and we have a top 100.

Now, with a small sample size it's obviously skewed. But it still represents the site as we are. I think we all know Nightmare on Elm Street is going to do well and likely take #1 or #2, but that's because some of our most prominent members are ardent fans, where it's getting 100 points out the gate. But thinking on it, some of those members aren't here anymore and tastes have changed, so maybe not. Could be interesting.

I don't. Charts, tables, spreadsheets, sure. Numbered lists? Not so much.

A spreadsheet would be the way to go, it basically does the math for you and a chart can be created based off that data.

Who's the Excel master on here?

I work with Excel daily.

The more important question we need to be asking is how do we want to do this?
Reign mentioned something about a points system but I feel it makes it too complicated. And given the lack of traffic on HMF these days I feel narrowing the list down to a top 50 makes more sense.

We could do a top 50, then we each just need to make a top 10 list though. It's really about how much work we and the person tallying it wants to put in, which because there isn't that many of us it's not that bad. I did it back in the day all manual, no Excel or fancy math programs.

Which I will do it, btw, but if Tigg or others dig that type of stuff than by all means, was all.

If we all did top 25 we should come out near 100 different movies

A top 10 list would be easier for me to put together due to time restraints.

Yesssss I’ve been wanting to put together a new top 25. It’s been what, 15 years since we last did this?

Yeah, probably closer to 20. I remember the Descent and Devil's Rejects placing well as hot tickets at the time, not much released after (horror also went on a big downslide post '05 I see), so I want to say we did it probably 2006.
