Jiggy's Political Corner

With the election looming, I wanted a place on the board to talk to myself about things I find interesting that few others do, so here's that space. :P

I wanted to throw down some predictions, which I'll do over the next couple of days, with a focus on my personal interests (third party and independent candidates).

Also had other topics on mind, if I have a chance to get to them prior to the election.

Jiggy is gonna write in for Biden! How dare the Democrats subvert the will of their constituents in overthrowing King Joe.

If only I lived in New Hampshire during the Democratic primary. :P

I already voted - I pretty much always vote absentee. Honestly, I don't see how people can go to the polls - what, did they go through every candidate on their ballot beforehand? I have school board races I can vote in, but couldn't find a lick of information on some of these candidates (had much better luck with the school board races in 2022).

Voting absentee allows me to properly research the candidates, judicial retentions, etc.

Sorry if the idea of voting early and mailing it in scares any MAGA people here. :P

Most people vote for their team and don't really give a shit about policies and whatnot. As long as their team wins, they're happy. Idiots act like it's sports instead of something that's gonna have an effect on everyone's lives.

I've mailed in my ballot and voted early. The danger lies mostly in voting machines rather than voting early. Elections are more susceptible to a rigging when there is fortification combined with massive amounts of mail in ballots and voting machines. Voting in person and defortifying are the best options if we want a fair election. Maricopa County in Arizona is very corrupt as well as counties in Michigan and Pennsylvania. I think those are gonna be the main states the dems will aim to steal this election.

I've kinda forced myself to focus on the nastiness and corruption of politics as a whole rather than people who have team mentality. Politics is just nasty and I think the elites have done a good job at dividing the country and implementing that mentality onto people. Many are convinced Trump is going to ruin the country. I obviously see it the opposite way, but I've learned to accept that there is major influence among the political elites and news media that people in general are susceptible to on either side they're on. But people are not very open minded to the possibility of the other side not being evil. Which is why I've decided to take a step back in discussing politics extensively. Nobody really listens to the other side. Why waste my breath?

Whoever wins, I'm just gonna shut off political news feeds, ignore politics and just live my life.

find people who do listen. and then also don't shut down when they disagree with you or show you how you could be wrong about something.

If we disagree, then we disagree. As far as shutting down when shown I could be wrong is not something I do.

There isn't. Are you insinuating I don't think I can be wrong about something?

i'm not insinuating that. i think that we all can be stubborn sometimes, and will twist ourselves up, so we can justify sticking to our points when we really shouldn't be, in some certain discussions.

Trump is truly a master orator. From today:

“When I say insane asylums, and then I say, Doctor Hannibal Lecter, does anybody know? They go crazy. They say, oh, he brings up these names out of— Well, that's genius. Right. Doctor Hannibal Lecter. There's nobody worse than him. Silence of the Lambs. Who the hell else would even remember that? I have a great memory, but they always hit me. I don't bring it up too much because they have to take such a— he brought up Hannibal Lecter. What does that have to do with this? What is it? It has everything to do with it, right? He was… So I've done something for you for you that I haven't done in 20 speeches. I brought up Doctor Hannibal Lecter and we're allowing him, you watch, you watch these fake people will say again, he brought up Hannibal Lecter has absolutely nothing to do. You know I do the weave, right? The weave. It's genius. You bring up Hannibal Lecter, you mention insane asylum. Hannibal Lecter. You go out, no. There'll be a time in life where the weave won't finish properly at the bottom and then we can talk. But right now it's pure genius. Hey, I have an uncle, my uncle, Uncle John, my father's brother, 41 years at MIT, longest serving professor has so many degrees, he didn't know what the hell to do with them all in the most complicated. I understand a lot of this stuff, you know, I believe in that. Like, I mean, Jack Nicklaus is not gonna produce a bad golfer. Right. You know, that's the way it works. It's just one of those things and it's in the family and it's whatever”

I've not listened to Trump giving a speech myself in a while, but he seems rambling most of the time I see him. It's a damn shame Biden dropped out, because that match-up would have been fantastic for increased third party/independent turn-out.

It’s real. So cool how close we came to a second election between two dementia ridden old men.

Ann Selzer has Harris +3 in motherfucking Iowa. Notable because she is regarded by many as the best pollster in the country and has been almost dead on with her projections for many years.

Needless to say, if Harris can win Iowa, this is going to be a blowout. The Harris campaign strategy of sucking off Bush era Republicans has been baffling and it looks like it won’t matter. Normal people are just sick of Trump being in our lives.

I saw that poll about ten minutes ago. I'm going to assume it's an outlier, but it could certainly be a blowout in Harris' favor. Makes election night all the more enjoyable to look forward to (not Harris winning, because fuck her, but seeing Trump lose again would be deeply amusing to me).
