yeah. it's definitely well made on a technical level. giovanni ribisi deserves the praise he's getting.Slaughterhouserock wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 3:10 amI thought it was just ok. Didn't see the point in the out of order storytelling and the plot itself wasn't really anything new, but it was well made and decently entertaining.
Hell yeah. Finished refreshing last night.
I still haven't watched the new episodes.
Overall I have enjoyed the show, especially the earlier seasons. I didn't care for the ending of the last season all that much but it didn't ruin anything for me. My only gripe is, while they have managed to bring back several characters from the films. The one exception is Julie Pierce (Hillary Swank). Which is a shame because even if it was just a cameo it would be fine.
From what I kept reading, there seemed to be scheduling conflicts, but there's still more to this final season so she may pop up.Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:03 amOverall I have enjoyed the show, especially the earlier seasons. I certainly hope so. I understand that Daniel and Julie have never met and have no connection other than having the same mentor and that's a loose connection at best. But I have no doubt they both know of one another and it would be fun for the fans if they two were to meet on screen even if it was for a short moment.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:06 amFrom what I kept reading, there seemed to be scheduling conflicts, but there's still more to this final season so she may pop up.Lazerus wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:03 amOverall I have enjoyed the show, especially the earlier seasons. I understand your criticism of the premise. You've got two guys in their mid to late 50's, one a self made millionaire and they're both still obsessing over a karate match they had 40 years ago. I mean I get it. The same criticism could be said of Terry Silver. Here's a billionaire who risk loosing everything because he too is obsessed with the Cobra Kai team. But Karate Kid was never meant to be taken seriously anyways, the movies were silly in a way but imo the show is exactly what it needed to be. A solid continuation of the Karate Kid universe and one of the best legacy series so far. But I understand why it didn't do it for you.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:09 am So I really tried with Cobra Kai. I love the Karate Kid, and I did karate as a kid, I identified with the material, swept plenty of legs, all that good shit. But with Cobra Kai, the whole premise is just too fucking stupid. These two guys, their whole fucking lives revolve around a karate match they had when they were kids? Really? I get one character in Kreese being that pathetic, and we can chock up to bad Nam flashbacks and such, but nobody seems to be able get passed that fateful day at All Valley in '84 huh?
The premise is ridiculous and gets more ridiculous with each season but the cheese of it keeps me coming back for moreReign in Blood wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:09 am So I really tried with Cobra Kai. Yessum. Not pumped as I'm mainly hoping it's not a total joke, but Tyson looks good, and I want to see if he still can pack a punch. But yeah I'd obviously be betting on Paul.
