I want absolutely nothing to do with any form of sports for at least 48 hours. Especially hockey and basketball.
Hey, the Rockies won their last game. Oh, but they are still last place stinking up the league. Piss.

i don't know enough about bob dylan to judge it that way, but a complete unknown was cool as movies go.
He got the fame that Townes Van Zandt should have got
there's always gonna be someone left behind. but he's not forgotten, clearly.
If Bob Dylan was the one singing about Colorado, Jason would drop Townes like a bad habit.

His Colorado songs are pretty decent. It's his songwriting in general that is out of this world. He taps into the depressive mind in his lyrics and combines it with the music in ways that nobody else really did. For my money, at least. He was much too raw to be commercialized and that's largely why he was never a household name. His music is absolutely not for the faint of heart. You can't make music like he did without being in a terribly depressive and dark place, and it was clear he lived like that his whole life. Totally burdened by depression, but we got incredible music out of it.
I only compare him to Bob Dylan because I watched a documentary on him after he died and musicians from that era always said his writing was similar but far superior to Dylan, which is what Dylan was largely praised for.
Edit:
I often share jams with buddies that pertain to shit they're dealing with or going through, but I will never introduce them to Townes. If you listen to his music intently and you're in a bit of a sad or dark place it can really drag you into the deep waters with him. He and Bruce are probably the greatest songwriters of all time if I were to put a personal list out there.

His sound is southern, rednecky, backwoods country type stuff, largely. It's one of those deals where his sound is not gonna be for everyone, but the lyrics are undeniable.
Oddly enough, I began listening to his stuff when I heard one of his songs featured at the end of a True Detective episode. Looked it up on youtube. Eventually heard another... heard another... and was blown away.
If the sound isn't your style, he might not work for you. But then again, it might change a little bit of the way you listen to music. He did for me.

Right off some of his playing and voice seemed America-ish. And there ain't no better song about depression than a young lad broken down by Sister Golden Hair, that hussy bitch.

Lungs is the one I heard in True Detective.

Easily the best of those particular 3.

it's good stuff. he feels more introspective less political than what i've heard of bob dylan. both have their place.

Yeah. I'd say that's exactly right.
What was Joan Baez like in the Dylan movie? She had to have had a role in it I imagine
