I have been saying this for a long time about companies like Amazon and Netflix. Allowing them to put a lot of others out of business by building upon government subsidized services should have been addressed years ago.

Should have put the link here:

I have never once received an Amazon package via USPS.

Sounds like a personal vendetta for Trump. Bezos owns WaPo after all.

Well, they ship about 40%.

Literally every amazon package I've purchased has come USPS. lol.

Netflix will never get a dime of my money.

Oh, and the war on streaming has begun. I was looking up recently when the IT remake was going to be available for purchase. December 26th was the date. I had free time, so I went to buy it. "Oh, it's only available for digital download. You have to wait until January 9th to buy it on DVD/blu ray."

I'm seeing ads on my PS4 to download IT.

Fuck you. Not happenin'.

I don't have any animosity towards any of those companies. I believe in streaming and buy from Amazon. I just have a problem with building so heavily on the backs of subsidized services. In addition to using the USPS, Amazon is notorious for leveraging local and state incentives. Feels like their whole business was built upon shuffling government money around until it falls into their pockets.

Why would you not use the cheapest way possible to deliver your product? Smart business if you ask me.

I live near an Amazon warehouse. I got a package within 3 hours a few weeks ago. Can't remember if it was USPS or what. It was weird, but pretty rad, lol.

You should. At the same time, government should not be subsidizing it in the manner they do. I am not limiting this to any company. I would include coca-cola, pepsi, little debbie, etc. in the same category. Government uses public funds to make corn syrup cheap.

Ah ok. I’m with you now. So ignoring Trump and inflation you’re saying that amazon shouldn’t get a free ride, yes?

Are you happy to pay more for items and shipping?

Sure. I don't mind paying for services I use. Like I said, I use Amazon and I am a prime member. I also use the USPS for business mailings of my own. Government should not be subsidizing these services. I don't expect taxpayers to pay for part of a Crave mass mailing anymore than I expect them to subsidize tacos we sell.

This is the problem. Everyone is so selfish and worried about their selves. God forbid Amazon shipping or Netflix monthly rates go up for them! In reality, a more competive environment is created where more people have jobs.

That's why I hate Netflix. No competition, shitty stream, and godawful selection. When I was a kid, I rode my bike to Hollywood Video every week and two or three-at-a-time rented the entire Friday/Nightmare/Halloween franchises. Netflix will have NOES 5 and H20 on their best day.

netflix does have competition though. i guess not physical store competition anymore, which is probably what you mean. but competition means that some things stop succeeding and go away. could netflix have more competition? absolutely and they will as digital becomes the norm more and more.

well said. with fewer and fewer jobs comes less competition. what are we doing, culturally? automating jobs and merging companies together. capitalism seems, at it's current state, about creating bigger profit for themselves, at the sacrifice of competition.
