movies are always going to reflect the culture that they are released into. if certain themes (or lack of) don't appeal to you, cool. if you don't like prevalent gay characters, fair. if you don't like deeper, less caricatured muslim characters. fair... if you don't like strong women characters. fair. find stuff that you do like, and let those of us that do like those themes, watch what we like.

Pretty cool little freedom rider flick. Pretty hippie-esque, but the main enjoyment I get out of it is the two buds traveling around on their bitchin bikes and rockin tunage.

My place of work is at least mildly retarded.
As quickly as possible: I drive a cement mixer, I live about 3 minutes away from one of their cement plants. They screwed me pretty much when I got the job over a year ago, and I have to make an hour commute to work every day to a different plant. We never know when we're going to work, we have to call at about 7:00PM every night to get our start time for the next morning. It's 7PM, the system updated and I got my start time for tomorrow. It's 2:00 AM. In exactly 7 hours from the moment the system updated is when I have to be AT work, clocked in... I am a truck driver. Not only is that not even 8 hours notice of my start time, I have to drive an hour TO work just to clock in. If I dropped the phone and fell asleep the moment I got my start time, and woke up with JUST enough time to stand up and walk to my car and drive to work, it would be 6 hours of sleep. Not to mention, when I start work this early, it is usually a VERY long day. I still need to shower, eat, was gonna watch the Rockies game but it's gonna end two hours before I have to leave. I'm seriously going to get like 3 hours of sleep tonight, if I'm lucky.
They are trying to kill me.

lol. My body gets tired when it wants to get tired. Winding down too early will only make me restless later.

Easy Rider is the late 60s. I don’t think Hopper and Fonda even realized how genius it was as high as they were the whole time.

That movie is as critical of hippies as it is contemporary society. It is brilliant.
From a quality syandpoint, not sure anything will ever touch that New Hollywood era.

what are the ten best "new hollywood" movies? is this just the term for the non-studio system stuff of the 60s and 70s?

Late 60s-early 80s when studios put all their chips into the new generation of directors keeping the industry alive. It was overproduced musicals and historical epics until they figured it out.

Narrowing that down to 10 is a hell of a task.
