Re: January 25th 2019
Got in a good hour of Resident Evil 2 remake gameplay last night. Didn't quite get far enough for a good outlook of what I'll think of the game, but here's what I got so far...
If you're a fan of the original RE2, you're gonna notice a bunch of nods to it here. The game looks outstanding and plays a lot like any normal 3rd person shooter on these newer systems. But it's definitely a change for me, as exploring for things is a lot different than how you would in typical Resident Evil games of the past.
My only gripe so far is there are some areas that are dimly lit or hardly lit at all and the character has to pull out the flashlight and that's your only form of vision. This is kind of a cheap form of scare tactics, in my opinion. None of the old games had huge areas where you need to navigate with your flashlight. It was already creepy as hell without forcing you into a darkened corridor to try to get you. It's no big deal, really. But I would prefer seeing where I'm going and what I'm doing. I'm gonna have to come back to these areas a dozen times to unlock doors and shit and I can't see a fuckin thing.
Other than that, I'm loving what they're doing and it's awesome seeing one of my all time favorite games getting some massive love in this remake.

Well, they don't have a reason why mine hasn't shipped yet, but they guaranteed I should have it by Sunday, or they're taking $15 bucks off. I saved the transcript just in case.
