Windy as fuck here. Went to Keriko's and got a whole chicken with beans, rice, tortillas, and some tamales. Good stuff, feasty.

Happy Turkey day HMF. Hopefully being away from family and friends isn’t too taxing for you all.

I'm good, but I'm always good not being stuck tethered to family as they jerk off to football in the background :P

Fair. We are currently mulling over what to do for Xmas. Want to see family but also just not sure the journey and the risk to older people is worth it. Hard choice

Why did the US make this a day rather than date holiday? It’s a bit weird, really.

Probably so it could be a consistent day of the week, rather than moving around during the week, easier to plan for family get-togethers? I'm only guessing though.

Could be. It’s just quite unusual as a holiday setup. Not a lot of other holidays are like that, although I guess Easter Sunday is like that. But Sunday has done religious significance. Not sure Thursday has a significant meaning to Turkeys. :D

I was curious enough to look it up. "Thursday was a special day for Puritan colonists in New England, with ministers giving a religious lecture on Thursday afternoons, so that could have contributed to the Thursday Thanksgiving tradition".

Happy Thanksgiving HMF. I went ahead and took charge and kicked off the giving of the thanks at the dinner table this year. That was a quick fucking spiel, lol. Tiny Tim can go fuck himself.

Ha! I was clearly wrong, it is religious and significant.

Nicely done!
