2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
I've long since assumed that the demons that possess everyone in The Evil Dead get in through wounds and lacerations. Never read that to be the case anywhere but anytime someone is cut or stabbed they become possessed. Is that just a coincidence? I never sought to confirm any of this and just assumed this is how it was. Lol
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
that never occurred to me. just took the explanation at face value, but if none of the other films contradict it then it may as well be true. i like that as a head canon thing if nothing else. good catch.

The main tell I think is when Linda's pencil wound seems to spread up her leg and she is suddenly possessed in bed. Almost like the wound made her more susceptible to becoming "infected" with a demon.

just looking through the library catalog and found killer party. that's kind of a deep cut. someone else in this town must be a fan of the horror cheese too!

Killer Party didn't do much for me. I generally blame Jason for hyping it up so much.

Even if it was, it wouldn't likely be a full-length film. The first horror movie that exceeds an hour came out either 1911 or 1913 (it depends on whether you consider L'inferno horror or not - I've not actually seen it, so I often consider 1913's Der Student von Prag as the first full-length horror film).
Apparently both Hidaka iriai zakura (1909) and Botan dôrô (1910) could also classify as horror, but both movies are sadly lost.
This is why they call me Jiggy "Pretentious" Mahoney.

Those old movies are terrifying to watch.Jigsaw wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 3:15 pmEven if it was, it wouldn't likely be a full-length film. A wound seems like a guarantee but lots of people become possessed just by being in the vicinity of the evilJason wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 1:36 pm I've long since assumed that the demons that possess everyone in The Evil Dead get in through wounds and lacerations. Just came from the cinema, watched The Substance. It’s got a good goofball factor I b was not expecting, with a toon of body dysmorphic gore. Feels like some on here might appreciate it.

a ton of body dysmorphic gore does sound good.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
fear in the night started out well, and then it fell apart for me in the last thirty minutes. not a bad movie. just a bad horror movie. it's not what i wanted. it was nice seeing peter cushing in it as usual.
