Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
even if it was played out in the marketing, i do still like the part with the mother squirming and crawling around.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
She's a pretty convincing Evil Dead demon and was probably the best part of the movie (besides title scene). Chick with the short brown hair was not a convincing demon at all though.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
the best part of the movie is when they're watching the action on the other side of the door. aside from the opening and title rise.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
What I don't understand is why the demon can't just kick the door down if it wants in so badly. lol.
Mama crawling out of the entrance to the attic was pretty nice. And then the record player fingernail voicebox moment.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
yeah, there is a lot to like in the film, if you don't try to dismiss it all out of hand.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
The apartment complex setting just never sat well with me. It's nice as a standalone flick but they put in the Evil Dead elements and it makes me critique it more.zombie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:23 pmyeah, there is a lot to like in the film, if you don't try to dismiss it all out of hand.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
fair enough. i guess the evil dead has become so connected to the cabin setting. but it had to change at some point. and there were a lot of other horror flicks using that setting too. it was becoming cliche, hence your favorite clip.Jason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:26 pmThe apartment complex setting just never sat well with me. Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
Changing too much tends to be what brings a franchise downhill. Friday the 13th probably had the longest run as far as quality films go and it didn't do a hell of a lot of changing until they put him on a boat and sent him to a big city. Most everyone hated it. Then they blew him up. Most everyone hated it. Then they sent him to space. Most everyone hated it.zombie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:28 pmfair enough. i guess the evil dead has become so connected to the cabin setting. but it had to change at some point. and there were a lot of other horror flicks using that setting too. it was becoming cliche, hence your favorite clip.Jason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:26 pmThe apartment complex setting just never sat well with me. jason voorhees drowns and dies when not at the camp setting where he may or may not have drown but not stayed dead.Jason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:33 pmChanging too much tends to be what brings a franchise downhill. Are you confusing yourself on purpose to hate the franchise?zombie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:36 pmjason voorhees drowns and dies when not at the camp setting where he may or may not have drown but not stayed dead.Jason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:33 pmChanging too much tends to be what brings a franchise downhill.
