i think i would call targets horror. but it goes really straight and casual and not playing up the fear and intensity that such an event would actually. and i don't get that. i guess bogdanovich wanted to make a horror flick without leaning far into the horror of it. but i stand by it being horror, personally.

oh i think i get why they didn't go hard with the horror. i can't really explain it without spoiling the movie, but yeah. also not exactly a fan of the way they took karloff''s character in the end. but it is good hero worship kind of an ending in a way. so i can let that slide.

It's not far off from what I expected. Well-shot, but far from an enjoyable movie, and I couldn't imagine wanting to see it again.

Also I've seen at least 400 face slaps in this. Excessive even by 60's Italian cinema standards

I'd go Candyman, but if you're in the mood for something more ghostly, than I'd go the Changeling. That said, if you're in the mood to keep off the moors, I'd go AWiL.
Hope that helped.

I actually own two of the three of those on DVD, so that's an oddly nice feeling.

Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
For my part, it's a bit more difficult because after pretty much every movie, I have to spend anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour writing a review, and thinking about all that time that could have been used watching more movies physically hurts.
Still, we all do what we can. I pretty much have no life outside of work, so I have no excuses for not getting decent numbers.

a nightmare on elm street is my favorite horror movie score. an american werewolf in london may be my favorite horror soundtrack.
