Because the body horror in the original is far less icky than in the 1980's movie.

It can do what it wants. I'll enjoy the classy and suspenseful times of the 1950's more, though. Plus it has Vincent Price, and a morbidly amusing ending.
All of this said, I've only seen the 1986 Fly once, and it was over ten years ago, so I probably can't comment too fairly on it. I do give the 1958 Fly an 8.5/10, though, and I sort of doubt the 1986 version can match that.
