nah. i think a lot of people like chevy chase. i'm just not big on him, personally. williams and carrey can be obnoxious in the wrong role, for sure. i've grown out of a lot of carrey's straight comedy stuff.
My main for comics/comedic actors are (oldest to youngest)

Gene Wilder
Chevy Chase
Norm MacDonald
Adam Sandler
gene wilder is one of my favorites.

I think it has more to do with him behind the scenes as being one of the biggest pompous asses in the industry. Almost everyone hates working with him.

Yeah, his style itself is definitely not a problem. There was only one Chevy.
