That never stops me none.

She's worse than you say she is?
yeah, i can go with that. i haven't delved into her as a character much beyond "she isn't quite that bad"

if i forced my drug and blood money onto my wife and children, i probably couldn't wait for my cancer to come back and kill me too.Jason wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:09 pmSpoilers ahoyzombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:05 pmyeah, i can go with that. i haven't delved into her as a character much beyond "she isn't quite that bad"![]()
Imagine your wife telling you she can't wait for the cancer to come back and kill you, when you never did anything to her.
Breaking Bad mastered building tension, The Wire mastered creating a layered world, The Sopranos and Mad Men in their own ways mastered character depth and were flawlessly written. I have a few other favorites but those four shows are perfect.
what makes those other three shows more watchable for you?Headhunter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:26 pmBreaking Bad mastered building tension, The Wire mastered creating a layered world, The Sopranos and Mad Men in their own ways mastered character depth and were flawlessly written. Breaking Bad is built on that tension propelling you from one oh shit moment to the next. That makes it the easiest to binge on your first watch. But almost like a drug, the effect wears off a little bit when you know where it’s going. Mad Men is almost the opposite, there’s no real narrative tension but it’s always surreal watching how the characters adapt to the world around them changing.zombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:29 pmwhat makes those other three shows more watchable for you?Headhunter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:26 pmBreaking Bad mastered building tension, The Wire mastered creating a layered world, The Sopranos and Mad Men in their own ways mastered character depth and were flawlessly written. You wouldn't be at least partly understanding that his intentions were to cook and sell enough to leave them with money instead of a giant hole of debt?zombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:17 pmif i forced my drug and blood money onto my wife and children, i probably couldn't wait for my cancer to come back and kill me too.Jason wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:09 pmSpoilers ahoyzombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:05 pmyeah, i can go with that. i haven't delved into her as a character much beyond "she isn't quite that bad"![]()

that is what he intended before he started actually doing it, yeah. but i feel like we've run all the way through the morality and guilt or blame of the two characters. he is the better character in my opinion, because he is more fun to watch through the journey than she is. that's all. it doesn't have to be about putting yourself into his shoes or hers.Jason wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:29 pmYou wouldn't be at least partly understanding that his intentions were to cook and sell enough to leave them with money instead of a giant hole of debt?zombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:17 pmif i forced my drug and blood money onto my wife and children, i probably couldn't wait for my cancer to come back and kill me too.Jason wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:09 pmSpoilers ahoyzombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:05 pmyeah, i can go with that. i haven't delved into her as a character much beyond "she isn't quite that bad"![]()

The point of the show is to put yourself in Walt's shoes. It is understandable and gradually becomes less so throughout the show.zombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:36 pmthat is what he intended before he started actually doing it, yeah. but i feel like we've run all the way through the morality and guilt or blame of the two characters. he is the better character in my opinion, because he is more fun to watch through the journey than she is. that's all. it doesn't have to be about putting yourself into his shoes or hers.Jason wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:29 pmYou wouldn't be at least partly understanding that his intentions were to cook and sell enough to leave them with money instead of a giant hole of debt?zombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:17 pmif i forced my drug and blood money onto my wife and children, i probably couldn't wait for my cancer to come back and kill me too.Jason wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:09 pmSpoilers ahoyzombie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:05 pmyeah, i can go with that. i haven't delved into her as a character much beyond "she isn't quite that bad"![]()

i don't think that is the point of the show. i don't think vince gilligan meant for us to sympathize with or root for walt, really.
