Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
I will edit this post accordingly. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts on what is on my list as well as stuff you'd think I really need to get to that should be bumped toward the top.
TV to watch that I've not entirely seen
True Detective: Night Country (season 4) - 1st season is top tier, 2nd is a cluster fuck, 3rd was solid. I'm hearing the 4th season has a general consensus of being the second best season behind the first. 6 episodes only, so this one is likely next up.
Game of Thrones - Saw the first season years back, liked it well enough. Joffrey can lick deez nuts imo.
The Wire - Because it is apparently nearly as good as Breaking Bad
Boardwalk Empire - Because Buscemi is the man and I'm sure this will rock the casbah nicely.
Archie Bunker's Place - I wanna see the lead up to the groundbreaking situation that happens in the middle of the show. A spin off of probably the greatest sitcom of all time.
Newhart - Nostalgic 80s comfort sitcoms have always been a staple in my pre-bedtime routine, especially when I was still a truck driver and dealing with relentless stress and little sleep. Not much was more soothing than catching an episode or two every night before bed after surviving hell.
The Sopranos - Apparently in the vein of Breaking Bad and The Wire. It's gotta be at least pretty good.
Band of Brothers/The Pacific - Because I gotta see what all the fuss is about
Ash vs. Evil Dead - I prefer the horror of The Evil Dead rather than the comedic aspects, which is why I've been so slow with the trigger on this one. Maybe save this one for September or November for some pre or post Challenge horror.
Mad Men - Gonna go into this one essentially blind when the day comes
Miami Vice - Only 5 seasons (I think) and I get the vibe that it is peak 80s.
Movies to watch that I've not seen
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007) - If movies about American Indians are done right, they are some of my favorite movies. But none have been better than Jeremiah Johnson.
Movies to rewatch
My Dinner With Andre (1981) - Without even researching it just feels like the world is becoming less human. We're over-stimulated and no longer sensitive to anything. My Dinner With Andre tackles this conversation around the time it started to show signs of prominence. I need to revisit. This is a front runner.

I don’t know if Mad Men would be your bag but I just finished binging it and it’s in the top tier with Bresking Bad / The Wire / The Sopranos for me. Amazing writing and character depth
Not removing until John Elway is fired.

Also if you’re going to watch Band of Brothers you need to watch The Pacific too.

Edited in The Pacific. I know next to nothing about Mad Men but just read a brief plot line. Is it Wall Street stuff like Boiler Room/ Wolf of Wall Street?

It’s about people working for an advertising firm. It’s not cocaine energy like Wall Street stuff, more of a slow burn. Follows the cast of characters from 1960-1970. Mix of workplace drama, personal life drama with the background of real history and how all the changes in the country affect everyone. Subtle brilliant writing and a lot of it is really funny too.

I only watched the first season of Boardwalk Empire I need to go back to that. Need 7 episodes to finish Yellowstone than I can watch the 2 spinoffs

we will see to it, that he does.
Re: Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
I would watch House of the Dragon before Game of Thrones because it's set 170 years prior to the events of GOT. Both shows are great and Tywin Lannister is the best character in the entire franchise!
True Detective: Night Country is amazing!
As for Evil Dead I prefer the straight horror approach of Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise.
I enjoy Bruce Campbell's performance as Ash but the comedy aspect of it just doesn't fit for me.

As someone who's seen The Wire twice, it's a show I deff recommend. Hope you have a quality time with it.

Re: Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
I love the rawness of it. Wilderness type movies with the goal of telling accurate tales rather than portraying Indians to be sad and hopeless victims.

Re: Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
I got two episodes in. Didn't hold up to the game at all and someone told me the third episode shoehorned gayness throughout the entire thing so I bounced it.

Re: Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
The game is infinitely better. Not even a debate imo...

Re: Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
i haven't played the game. you haven't really seen the show. we're in a similar place.

Re: Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
I've seen 25% of it and it was just ok. I ducked the gay wedding episode which was nice.

Re: Jason's List of Shit to Watch/Rewatch
a show doesn't have to agree with your politics to be a good show. but fair enough, i guess.
